Anyone following these new cruises? They are definite contenders for us for Fall 2027 and later.
Is anyone very familiar with the NYC cruise port area that can make recommendations about local overnight lodging and transfers from Penn Station/Amtrak arrivals/departures?
Are you flying/driving/train to NYC?
I would probably recommend a taxi coming from Penn Station.

We would take Amtrak/Acela:
From BWI Marshall Airport, MD to New York, NY - Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Sta. (2.5-3 hours)
Google says that’s 2.4 miles/30 minutes from the cruise terminal that DCL used:

I would plan to stay the night before departure in NYC, and probably take the train directly home at debarkation.

I would stay at Penn Station and then take a cab in the morning and another cab on the way home. There’s a bunch of hotels right here and it’s a fine location.
You could get to the terminal via subway/bus if you wanted and it’s what I would potentially do, but not sure if you want to do bags on the subway.
Thank you! I continued Googling. I’m not fond of taxis, but the nearest subway stop is about 0.7-0.8 miles away from the cruise terminal. Not a bad walk if you only have one rolling suitcase but I’d have DD in tow and probably excess luggage.

Would you consider driving? I know the Amtrak route is not cheap or fast. You can park literally at the terminal. (That is what we have done.)
You could mayyyyybe find a hotel with a shuttle? I just looked and it doesn’t appear to be a thing. There are a couple but they are in NJ which does not help you!
I’ll bet DCL will make some arrangements with local NYC deluxe hotels, which I would prefer for reliability!
Our drive to the NYC cruise terminal is 3 hr 20 min (194 miles) under optimal conditions, which I wouldn’t want to do on a departure day with no backup driver. I’d happily drive to Baltimore or Philadelphia for cruises, however! They’re just not the DCL that I want!
We are on Long Island so taking the train in and not having to fly to Florida would be amazing but Canada and Bermuda in November do not sound that exciting. I know its limited where you can go from NY but at the higher cost it might just be worth it to fly to another port.

Bermuda isn’t necessarily cold, but it’s not beach weather in November.
Canada is barely beach weather mid-July 
I’m not interested in a NYC cruise but I think I found a sailing that works for me out of Fort Lauderdale on the Dream. 
It’s a bit more expensive than my past cruises but I guess that’s what happens when you go 4-night vs. 3-night! 
I haven’t been to Bermuda in about 25 years, but it’s one of the few cruise ports I’ve visited that felt completely lovely and safe just strolling off the ship (private islands excepted).
That is literally 10% LESS money than the 5 night Bermuda cruise out of NYC. DCL pricing makes no sense.
Now THIS is what I’d be looking at.
In 2014, had my mom and sister had more flexibility, we’d have done that trip. It would have cost less than our four night Magic and our 10 night land trip with SeaWorld, Aquatica & Busch Gardens.
So I immediately looked up current pricing at the Hotel Del Coronado, which looks reasonable next to GF prices: $638 for Resort View 2 Queens (August 2026).
