I think it is a “me” issue. That walk to the pool always feels longer to me than any other deluxe. I love that pool, but it “feels” long to me (plus concrete/cement). Maybe I just do it wrong?
But, sunset savannah is on the other side?

We always went through the lobby to get to it and it didn’t feel very far to me! But we had the first room in the hallway.

I remember a couple of trips trying to go down staircases but there was no exit to the path. AKL is so beautiful but not that sidewalk walk past buildings and the driveway. Am I remembering right?

To clarify - everything I am reporting (Sunset View, Near Lobby, Near Pool) is based on the drop down options.
From that. all savanna at Kidani (North and South Trails) is considered Sunset, except for the small area that is Pembe.
Everything at Kidani feels longer to me.
I think their Near Lobby option (first two pods) is too limited, or perhaps they need a middle option for Not Excrutiatingly Far From Lobby? 
I ended up putting in my room request as:
Required: Sunset View, Near Lobby or Near Pool (any of the first 3-4 pods)
Optional: Low Floor and please not at the very end again if possible.

Do the staircases further away from the lobby lead to the sidewalk to the pool?

Personally I would avoid saying this because they may put you on the Pembe savanna, notwithstanding what you said about Sunset View. Saying “Near Lobby (any of the first 3-4 pods)” is essentially the same thing without potentially contradicting your savanna request.
ETA: You can always edit your room request until it is sent at 30 days.

This was my AKL studio request: Hello, I would like to request a room in the North Trail on the 3rd or 4th floor close to the lobby. For example: Rooms 7704-7740 or 7804-7840. Thank you!
This is where we got upgraded to the 1-bedroom 7806 (4th Floor of Rafiki). The location was SO amazing.
I do not remember the walk from the lobby being ugly at all! This is all I could find for pictures, but obviously the Porte Cochere is really neat with the cubby holes and it’s pretty vegetative on the walkway to the pool.

I don’t actually remember - @melcort10 might? Our room was all the way at the end of the South Trail, so we only made it to the pool once, and I’m pretty sure we exited at the lobby.
Quick check online suggests that it’s possible to take the Rafiki elevator down to parking and walk out that way.
@Jeff_AZ and @melcort10 - thank you for the suggestions! Unfortunately, today was crazy, I just saw them now, and TP sent over my request just after 8am. I will have to hope for the best. 
That said - from the Room Finder data, none of the Pembe Savanna view rooms is considered Pool View or in the first four pods (not to jinx myself 
).
