I actually experienced this at some point while testing on BLT, but I was distracted by a different issue and didn’t go back and attempt to reproduce it. I’ll see if I can. But it was the same kind of issue, where I should have been able to click an arrow in a certain direction to get to an adjacent room, but it wouldn’t let me.
ETA: Okay. I found at least one example of this. But If you go to BLT room 7744, the arrow going right says “N/A”, even though there are plenty of rooms to the right. There are no rooms, however, to the left.
I think maybe the direction the arrow takes you is not really relative to the room position facing OUT? If that’s the case, perhaps it isn’t really a “bug”, but somewhat unintuitive, because the photos show us looking OUT, with the arrows on top of the image. So, I think we expect it to be relative to that view.
I THINK I’ve come up with a scenario for the first part of that where it appears to happen with some consistency. At least with the limited checking I’ve done.
Steps:
On BLT…
Select “Reset filters”
Click on the building
Select a floor.
At this point, it doesn’t seem to change floors. But if I now select a different floor, it works. So, the first time selecting a floor after resetting filters APPEARS to be a trigger for this issue. FYI.
ETA: I don’t know if there are other scenarios which cause it…but whether there are or are not, perhaps knowing this path does cause it might be enough to find/fix for other scenarios, should they exist.
ETA again: Playing around more, I’m hitting this issue actually without even needing to do the Reset Filters. It happens extremely often just when I start out on the hotel’s starting page.
When you are on a specific hotel page, there is the “View All WDW Hotels”. It would be nice if this took you back to the place on the page where you select the hotels, rather than the top of the page. Presumably the user got to the original hotel by way of that page, so probably no need to make them scroll down each and every time they are on a hotel already and want to see all WDW hotels again.
When you are looking at various specific room pages, and navigating around to explore the views/details, once you find a room you are happy with, it would be nice to have a means to then go back to the hotel map, BUT land on the page showing the correct floor with the location of the room you were just at highlighted in some way.
As an example, if I’m viewing, say, room 8128 at BLT, and I think, “Great! Now…where exactly is this again?” Rather than just have a way to go “Back to Bay Lake Tower”, there is an option to “Show me where this room is located on the map” or something akin to that. Or, in the VERY least, when I click Back to Bay Lake Tower, it takes me back to the floor/building that this room was located in.
First, this is great! So many filters I went through manually to try and guess at. Especially the balcony.
To be honest I missed the text and was going to report the filter reset as a bug but skimmed the other comments to make sure someone hadn’t reported it already.
I completely expected all filters I checked to be applied with AND without removing any. So sequential sort no matter what. I can see where someone might get confused by their 0 results with too many applied but I actually find the reset more confusing. I’m already used to it, but I mostly end up just hitting ‘reset’ and starting over from the top.
If it could be sequential regardless of order selection and show the number of rooms “remaining” for each additional filter category that would be ideal. I know making it dynamic that way would probably be a heavy lift.
It doesn’t seem to be a listed attribute at all? I’m looking at Beach Club Villas, all of which have some sort of balcony except for the first floor patios and when I click through to the view it’s not listed along with all of the other fields including the new ones.
I love the balcony filter, but also looking at Beach Club Villas, what do “Large Balcony” and “Full Balcony” actually mean? My guess would be “Large” is just bigger than the tiny almost Juliet balconies and “Full” spans the room (or rooms for 1 bedroom and bigger). Is this correct?
One more filter request that’s super specific for ‘Location Preference’. Is there any way avoid rooms that are not directly in front of or above a smoking area? It’s only ever been an issue for us at Beach Club but a couple of times I asked as my only request to be away from a smoking area (severe asthma and migraine trigger for DH and one kid) it was as if we’d requested the chain smokers room for easy access. Obviously they know which ones they are, but I don’t know if that’s a data point they maintain.
that’s what it shows, with the corresponding 2/5/3/3/2 on floors 1/2/3/4/5 respectively. I don’t know Yacht Club but I guess that’s not the expected answer?
I don’t know if anyone has brought this up so far or whether you’d call it a bug, but…
Looking at All Star Music, I put in standard room near bus stop as the only filters and Building 9 gets highlighted. Actually looking at the rooms that match in that building show that they are only accessible rooms. I wouldn’t want to request an accessible room unless I really needed one, but the accessibility filter is all the way at the end, at the moment. Many people might not even notice that these rooms in building 9 are accessible only though.
Also confusing is the big pink “Touring Plans Picks” followed by “No rooms matching these filters are also TouringPlans Picks - other options are shown below” with 3 options with photos that are in buildings 4,5, and 6, even though only building 9 is highlighted as matching “Near Bus Stop”.
I would think the room finder would show rooms that meet the criteria you set. If there is no way for any room to match your search criteria there should not be any matches? I don’t think it has ever shown me rooms that are close to what I am searching.
I just did that scenario and it appears that buildings 2 and 9 are the outer threshold for near the bus stop. I wonder if that is a Disney supplied designation for rooms in that building.
The new room finder is great, but I did run into this issue:
Beach Club Villas
I selected the following filters in the order listed:
Room Type: All 2 Bedrooms
Location Preference 1: Near Elevator
Walking distance to lobby: 3 minutes or less
When I then clicked on the building, I got an error page. The tab says, “We’re sorry, but something went wrong (500).” The page says to try again in one minute. I’ve tried a few times, but I get the same result.
Today, I did a little testing on Boardwalk Villas.
First, I seem to be experiencing the issue where I select a floor more and more. Now, a good percentage of the time, I have to select a different floor a couple times before it finally will start changing floors properly.
Second, there is a link at the top of the page after selecting a room that says to “Back to Disney’s Boardwalk Villas South Building”…but when I select it, it just takes me back to the overall resort Map with nothing selected. (Is this newly added and not finished functionality? It is similar to what I requested up above, but didn’t see it when testing on BLT.)
Third, I was trying to test the “backwards” traversing through rooms using the arrows functionality. Unlike BLT, it seems to be correct so far with Boardwalk in the limited testing I’ve done…BUT, I ran into another issue. So, if I select, say, room 4069, this is the room furthest “left” in the South building on that side of the building for that floor. It does allow me to select 4065 going “left” again…so I presume that jumps to the north building, but it is when I go right that things get “interesting”. I can go right twice. But once I get to room 4073, it won’t let me click right any more, even though there are clearly plenty of rooms in that direction. If I click over to 4075 directly (not through the navigation arrows) I can go LEFT to room 4073, but not back from 4073 to 4075. But from 4075, I can go right.
