New Hotel Room Finder: Testing Opportunity

I looked it as “balloon gondola.” Good to know.

May have a bug, or at least it is confusing.
Select DVC Villa
Select Bay Lake Tower
Put in these search params. Room Type: All 2 bedrooms, Additional View Magic Kingdom view

The Touring Plan Picks shows only studio rooms and no 2 bedrooms. I would expect that if there are no 2 bedroom picks, that this section would be empty as the text states “Sample room picks matching your filters are shown below”

I think the recommended rooms, while technically are studios, are part of 2-bedroom lock-offs. So, you could say it is recommended because it is PART of a 2-bedroom pair.

Something I’ve noticed, and seeing today, is very sporadic and I’m not finding any particular pattern, but…

Sometimes after I click on a building, and it opens up the floor map, I’ll change to a different floor, but the page does absolutely nothing. There doesn’t appear to even be an attempt to load the correct floor. So, it says, for example, “Floor 12”, because that’s what I selected, but it is still showing Floor 1. If I select a different floor, it works, and then if I select Floor 12, it will load Floor 12. But…as I said, this only happens sometimes.

Possibly related…but I noticed also (sometimes) that I will be looking at a Floor of, say, a specific room type, and then I change the filter in some way…maybe a different room type. I get a spinner on the screen like it is doing something, but nothing happens. It just stays there spinning, and I can’t get out of it without hitting the browser’s back button. If I attempt to reproduce this issue, I can’t…but then some random time, it will happen again.

Anything about that rack rate issue that was mentioned up above for Pop? Is that a feature and not a bug? Is that just the standard rack rate setting across all resorts?

Good Point, I did not check if these are part of lock offs.

Now when I go in and start with Villas
Baylake Tower
Chose 2br villa Theme Park View as room type
I see
No rooms matching these filters are also TouringPlans Picks - other options are shown below
above the Touring Plan Picks.

So that seems better. One time aver navigating around the room type drop down did not contain the view as in “2 Bedroom Villa - Theme Park View”. It just has “All 2 Bedrooms”. I have not been able to replicate, however.

It’s next on my list. That one should be easy. The thing with the browser “Back” button and overlapping maps is harder to figure out. Working on that now.

Gotcha. I know you’ve been working feverishly on this project - much appreciated by all! - and wasn’t sure if it was a feature, got missed, or was not yet addressed.

Thanks!

Thank you Len. Really appreciate the extra features this one has and am thrilled to test a bit more.

I believe this has maybe already said/addressed when toggling TP picks
Wilderness Resort

  • when include TP picks with my filters the picks do not match my filters ie. king resort for my filters TP picks include 2 club level and resort queen
It could also be me “operator error” HAHa as my husband says
Love the room features and additional location options for CBR

I have noticed both of what you’re saying

Couldn’t decide if it was my internet connection, TP servers, or coding.

Also, I think it was Wednesday evening I was going to work on some daily touring plans for our next trip and TP kept logging me out. I decided it was TP servers while room finder fixing was happening and watched a movie instead.

Let me know if you can reproduce this. It sounds like an error in the code is causing the server to fail before it gets to the ‘remove the spinner’ part of the instructions.

@mcalligan The first of your 3 notes in post 124 should be fixed with the next release. Great catch there.

Also the second of the 3 notes in post 124 will be fixed with the next release. That was from a previous update in 2025 that didn’t properly link adjacent rooms. I wish I could blame someone other than myself. D’oh!

Working on the other one today.

Related to the POR forum thread (https://forum.touringplans.com/t/por-refurb-rooms/105435?u=feep), as a future feature, maybe a date of last refurb? I don’t know that it needs to be a filter, but it could be useful for someone.

I’m trying out the room finder for POR. I tend to make very broad requests since I’ve never really wanted one particular room but rather certain buildings. When I put in put in Woods View (2 queen beds) with no other criteria, it shows red highlight for the buildings but then says 0 rooms available when you hover over the buildings with your mouse. However, if you actually click on the building, it will show rooms available. On initial glace it looks like no room fit that criteria.

Just tried it again and now it’s showing the number of rooms in the red highlighted area when I hover over it.

BUT…I just tried Woods View (2 queen beds) and Magnolia Bend and no other selections and it only shows me building 80 and 85. Building 90 and 95 are also part of Magnolia Bend aren’t they?

Are those the ones undergoing refurb?

Yes. I’ve seen pictures from building 90.

If I just put Woods View (2 queen beds) and omit Magnolia Bend it shows building 80, 85, 90, 95 as options so it would appear that Woods View is an option in 90 and 95 and they are also part of Magnolia Bend but don’t show up when I add Magnolia Bend as a further filter.

I’ve verified that in the data we received from Disney, only Buildings 80 and 85 have the “Magnolia Bend” theme for Woods Views at POR.

That is, Buildings 90 and 95 are not tagged as “Magnolia Bend.”

I’ll ask about this. I don’t want to change it unless Disney also changes it.

Nice job figuring this out @JenniferB1975!

Thanks. Sounds like I just need to filter by Woods View rooms and go from there and that I’d be safe to request building 90 as there are woods view rooms and note that I’d like a refurbished room for October.

I’ve got a Poly stay coming up too in May. I’ll have to check that out with the new tool after work.
