Need to activate renewed AP before tapping in?

I renewed my AP and am wondering if I will need to visit GS before entering the park, or is the AP already “activated” since its a renewal?

IF you are a FL resident you’ll need to go to GS to show proof of residency. If you’re not then I don’t know?

I think you’ll have to go activate it to get your new AP card for discounts and what not.

If a renewal must be activated, does that mean I could technically renew mine and then wait a couple years to activate it? I thought renewals were effective immediately after the prior one expired, so activation wasn’t necessary.

I am curious.

I know that my app says the new one will go into effect when the old one expires but to get a hard card I need to show my FL-DL.
