Multi pass LL leading reservation?

I’ve read about multipass LL and I’m still confused about how it works with Disney hotels. From what I understand, I am able to reserve a multipass LL seven days out from when my hotel reservation begins for up to a 14 day reservation. Does that mean if I have a park ticket on the 14th day of my reservation I can make my lightning lane pics 21 days ahead for that day? Follow-up question I assume this would work with a leading reservation then correct? Similar to restaurant reservations?

In theory yes, but I believe the refundable cancellation policy is 8 days before while the lightning lane booking window is 7 days before.

This should discourage people from booking a leading reservation to game the LLMP system.

So I guess my question is whether LL reservations are tied to your park admission ticket or to your hotel reservation. Let’s say I have a 2 night Disney hotel reservation and I am going to a park on the morning after the first night. In this scenario, I have an 8 day advance window to book my Mutipass LLs. But I want a longer lead time, so I book a second “leading” reservation at a cheaper hotel with check in 7 days earlier than reservation 1 but with same check out date. With reservation 2, I can book 15 days earlier than reservation #1. Much better. If I cancel reservation #2, do my LL reservations stay in place, or are they cancelled? When we use this “leading reservation” hack for dinner reservations and park experiences, they reservations stay in place when the leading reservation is cancelled.

You can book LL 7 days out from your first reservation. But if you want to not have to pay for that first reservation, you have to cancel 8 days out.

So there’s obviously nothing to stop you spending that money and then not using the reservation if you cancel 6 days out, but you will be on the hook for the cost of that first reservation.

Maybe someone else can explain better than me.

No you don’t. It’s 15 days before your park day but only an extra 8 days.

But your last cancellation date for a refund is a day before you can start booking, as @missoverexcited pointed out.

Both, and each requirement is validated separately when determining your earliest possible booking date for each day. Whichever would give you the earlier booking date trumps.

As a reminder, here is the timing per the dedicated LL thread:

I believe that if you cancel your leading reservation before you become otherwise eligible to book, they could be removed by the end of the day when you cancel your hotel reservation unless you book a new reservation that makes you eligible.

Right now, the 8 day cancellation window isn’t in effect (it’s still 5 days) so you could in theory use a leading reservation (which I do not advocate for ethical reasons). But starting January 1st, you will have to cancel before 8 days so leading reservations won’t work unless you are prepared to pay for the leading reservation.

This was very much not me, it wasn’t even a Tinkerbell!

But I agree that @aliddabit is correct about this.
