Monorail Refurbishments

Our family will be traveling to Disney World in May 2018. We’re considering staying at the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian due to the convenience of the Monorail. However, I’ve been reading about Monorail Refurbishments. When I contacted Disney, the cast member said that they don’t yet know when the refurbishments will end.

I’m wondering if anyone has stayed at the Polynesian or Grand Floridian recently, and what was your monorail experience? Is there a modified monorail schedule? Did it shut down completely? Did it put a damper on your stay at either of these resorts, and traveling to Magic Kingdom and Epcot?

Probably because the monorail is in a constant state of refurb. It’s just not aging well, I think, and requires a LOT of upkeep. At least from the sounds of it anyway.
