Day 0!! Up at 2:25am, at airport by 4, now at the gate ready to leave for 7am boarding. I’m always crazy early but just witnessed another lady miss her boarding so I never want to take any chances.
DD is crazy excited about the World Cup, cheering on Canada and Croatia. It’s possible I had to plan park days around it for her She turns 16 next month but with my work schedule, a late June trip was clearly in the cards!
Starting with my obligatory nail and Starbucks at the airport pics. Hoping for some relaxation, mental reset, and celebrating DD persevering through so many obstacles in HS and coming out of grade 10 still standing strong.
Room ready before noon! Always have great luck with POFQ. This time is preferred and it’s so convenient to the restaurant and gift shop that I may never go back to standard.
Boat to Disney springs (no line!) and after 15mins we are a hot mess. I packed nice light clothes and neck fans but I underestimated the heat….we’ve been at end of August years ago, I must have blocked out the memory of the heat!
I got a very similar cubic zirconium Mickey head ring in March at the AKL gift shop. I wear it all the time now instead of wearing my real sapphire ring!
Today we got to Mk taps line at 7:34. Rope dropping big rides never works out in my favour. We enjoyed Main Street, stopped for photos, rode Astro orbiter and tea cups, tried to pull the sword from the stone. We saw Mickey and the fairy godmother waking around (not doing autographs) and that was so fun for spontaneous hugs, DD was thrilled.
We were first in line for Mirabel and that was fun, she got to help knock on the door so it would magically open and then walked with her to the meet spot this is my kind of rope drop.
Did I mention I forgot to bring the sunscreen, was left at the resort. Bought the spray from a gift shop and reapplied many times….spray just didn’t cut it, her back is red at least I remembered the aloe Vera, poor kid.
Many rides, snacks, and characters later, she was still going strong and I was a mess. Somehow she dried completely from front row Tiana’s and got this lovely pic, where-as I was a drowned rat.
We moved over to beach club yesterday, had our luggage transferred and went to blizzard beach for the first time with the free passes. We got there WAY too early (8:45) and chatted with another couple who had been there many times. They picked us up first visitor tattoos (I didn’t know that was a thing) and they told us to be enthusiastic when the cast members come by (which I think we always are )
DD got picked to open the park and be “ski captain!” First to tap in while they held everyone else (we also told them the other couple was with us so they could walk in with us!)
We got a little tour of the park and our own private area to sit. She got to ride Summit plummet to open the park (her, not me, I was silently freaking out for her lol). I had no idea this was a thing and so grateful to that couple!!
We hit up all the other slides before lunch! Started at the left of the park essentially and worked our way to the family tube slide on the right. Lazy River was meh, not near enough tubes for people, but eventually she got a tube and I hung on.
Perfect day at blizzard beach. I’m not a water park person but DD is, and it was actually fantastic
So I don’t know if this is a “cool kids summer” thing or if I just never noticed in the past, but during early entry we keep seeing characters roaming and playing little games with the kids. Today it was Joy playing charades and Woody and Jessie playing cowboy games. Very cute!
Today at HS was allll about the characters. We bounded as Buzz and Jessie and it was so fun
In the animation courtyard Donald, Chip and Dale were pulling people over with different solid colours to create a “rainbow”. A super nice cast member saw DDs enthusiasm for autographs, which characters don’t do while playing games, so during the character switch she took her autograph book back stage to get chip n dale’s autograph, so sweet!!
The heat was something else today. Called it a day at 3:30 at 45C (113F?)z Pool is closed due to lightning in the area. Hoping fantasmic still shows tonight!
Oh yes, absolutely the “feels like” temp! Was not expecting this level of heat for end of June, but we’re staying well hydrated. I just have to keep reminding DD to walk slower for me
