Going to date myself, but when I first started part time at my company in 1983, they would ask me to help different departments with various things.

One of them was to work with an old timer accounting clerk to hand calculate the aging and depreciation of the thousands of fire hydrants in our territory, crack open a 105 year old ledger book the size of half a desk, and write the info in there. You could flip back and see the changing of the guard over the many decades in the handwriting.

While that part was cool, I’ll take Excel, thanks. :slight_smile:

Lotus 1-2-3 wasn’t bad. You could do a weighted average, which Excel didn’t have built in.

Still, the jump from those to Excel doesn’t compare to the jump from Bankstreet Writer to WordPerfect and Word. If you ever had that torture, I’m sorry.
