Memes and Jokes (Part 4)

Ugh. Can’t stand this guy. Zero charisma. Pick someone else.

Wrong saint for Scott’s response. The original meme was St. Anthony, patron saint of lost things. JJT’s later comment was burying the St. Joseph statue.

This pretty much represents my disney planning over the last few weeks:

Austin Butler maybe?

Moderately better, but he’s no superstar (yet, anyway). Keep trying.

That’s right

Tho @Shmebulock had asked about St Joseph?

Nope, that was also asking about St Anthony.

But why I know about St Anthony is beyond me. I had to look up St Joseph

This conversation is out of my depth

I don’t think we really have those in the same way we used to. Everyone is niche.

Even people like Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt do well in particular types of roles. Not so much in dramas, like Pitt was able to do.

The funny thing is, so was St Anthony, if you knew his story.

I actually have no idea about St Anthony, this is just a shot in the dark.

You might be right.

The only guy I could come up with was Timothée Chalamet, but that doesn’t seem quite right either—he’s not as conventionally handsome as the superstars of yore. (He’s great in Marty Supreme, btw.)

Is the movie Passengers a drama?

It tries to be.

(I actually thought it was pretty good. But more because of Jennifer Lawrence.)

I don’t think we do. Movies aren’t the same. Thankfully in some respects, like actors being under contract to certain studios. (Three Amigos is in the tv currently for the dogs’ enjoyment).

People stream series and other content from sources not even thought of 100 years ago.

I thought it was amazingly good. Better than I expected. Possibly some actors aren’t offered enough variety. I recently saw Daniel Radcliff as a believable villain. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I just don’t think Pratt has much range. He can do a sort of tortured anxiety, but other than that it’s mostly a goofy brand of machismo.

Passengers played to his strengths, so it worked. But I couldn’t see him doing the types of roles Chalamet can do, for example.

I’ll take your word for it as I’ve not seen anything Chalamet has been in.

You’re missing some excellent movies :ok_hand:t4:

I’ll take your word for it :wink: since it’s unlikely I’ll be able to watch any. I apparently have all the wrong streaming services :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Plus a really low bar for what passes as a good movie :upside_down_face::wink::blush:
