I did not take this picture myself, I took it off the internet, but I wanted to take a picture of it the first time I saw it on WSMR (White Sands Missile Range) b/c it was so startling 
BTW there are all kinds of warnings about NO photography, NO stopping (speeding etc.) as you enter the missile range. Why was I there? It was a short cut from Alamogordo to El Paso. And it was a beautiful drive of desert wild flowers and wild life. Oh and oryx… we got charged once by a herd of them… scary.
Were the oryx making tank-like noises when they charged you?
ETA: Maybe I’m just thinking of a Canadian joke.
Soldiers going on an exercise are told "sorry guys we blew the budget, no ammo. So when you shoot the enemy yell “BANG” and when you throw a grenade, use a rock and yell “BOOM”. And just lie down when somebody yells at you, got it?’
Little later a soldier see 4 enemy soldiers walking in step through an open field.
BANG BANG BANG BANG
Nothing; the 4 enemies keep walking.
He throws a rock BOOM.
But the 4 soldiers just turn in synch towards him and keep walking
“C’mon guys you’re supposed to lie down!!”
Then he hears them grumbling “Tank, tank, tank, tank…”
nope… but I was probably making screaming like sounds as I determined: Gas it or break? I had a car full of kids at the time too.
Gotta admit, I’d never think to see them outside the zoo.
I’d be thinking “OK either they’re totally lost or I am”
Texans brought them over to do BIG game hunting and then they became an issue b/c they didn’t have any natural predators in the U.S. Now there are lottery systems and special hunting seasons to try and manage the population.
Oh yeah. Kind of problem once you’ve cleared out your wolf population.
