MCO transfer question

Arriving 2pm on 7/4, a Federal Holiday here in the US

Should I:

  • rent a car - price right now is ~$150 for 7/4-7
  • Lyft - generally about $60 round trip — but do you think there will be holiday rate increases???

Also considering Mears for the inbound trip (though not super excited about the idea. But will not Mears on the return because of poor reviews on that service and early flight time.

Has anyone arrived or otherwise used Lyft (or even Uber) on a holiday? Would you expect rate increase on that day?

I also will be Lyfting to dinner on 7/5, round trip, so that will run me about $30ish.

I’m almost talking myself into the car rental right here…

WWYD?

I am - because I can’t drink that much wine. I wouldn’t enjoy it or the meal

I’m planning one cocktail

I do not think there would be a specific holiday rate increase beyond a regular surge pricing. You could also do “wait and save” and it would still be faster than Mears and probably equal to renting.

I am no expert, but usually the ride sharing services have surcharges during peak demand. I don’t think 2 pm on the 4th will fall into peak demand per say. SO my guess is you will be reasonably close to that amount.

I don’t rent for Disney, so I don’t pay much attention to the parking charges and such. My question in deciding on this would be how much “extras” will you spend renting the car over the “rate.” Taxes, fees, insurance, gas, parking, etc. Seems to me like the $150 could easily balloon a bit, where you kinda know where you are with Lyft or Uber.

I loved using Lyft. It’s so fast and easy.

Save the most money: Mears Connect

Save the most time: Lyft

Have the most flexibility: Rent

So the question is, which is the most important to you?

Nope. It’s an all-in cost. Total cost is ~$150

Exactly, Ryan! (or is this @ScottFL )??

It’s like you’re inside my head!

I feel like I would argue that Lyft is in some regard more flexible. Like I don’t have to go back to where my parked car is and it can often drop me off in slightly more tight areas.

Then kind of just up to preference. I personally don’t like to mess with a car if I don’t have to, so it wouldn’t be a splurge for me. I like the flexibility of just ordering the ride when i need it, getting dropped off where I need to and go. But that is just me. I don’t think there is a wrong answer.

Agree here 100%

Yeah…

I HATE driving on vacation. I want someone else to drive. I’d Uber/Lyft.

I think I’m going MEARS to WDW - Lyft to MCO. I hadn’t even thought about taking a Lyft home from the restaurant…but everything will likely be shut down by the time dinner is over.

My aunt used to think the lyric was “I’m a lettuce face” (it’s “I’m all outta faith”)

I never laughed so hard as I did when she asked me what the heck that meant :rofl::rofl:
