Mask, social distancing update effective 6/15

Only under 25s haven’t been offered appointments - though anyone 16+ with a health condition should be fully vaccinated now.

Fully vaccinated or one shot? Also, what is the latest research on AZ and the new strains? I am just wondering if they are being overly cautious or not.

I just realized we have approached 2 weeks after Memorial Day. I saw articles before the holiday with some experts worried about outbreaks due to loosening restrictions and big holiday get togethers and get aways. My state and county continue to drop in cases and positivity. Are there any areas with outbreaks in the US? Maybe this is one of the reasons why Disney has decided to loosen masks restrictions further?

Ooh you’re right! I forgot that they have that large event/venue distinction.

I do think they’ll probably do away with the social distancing, limited capacity in resturants and stores, etc sooner rather than later since all that goes away with the tiers gone on 6/15. They’ll probably just advise unvaccinated people to follow CDC guidance.

44% of the UK population is fully vaccinated. 62% is partially vaccinated.

43% of the US population is fully vaccinated. 53% is partially vaccinated.

Yes, the US might reach 70 percent when all ages can be vaccinated but all the mass vaccination sites around here are closed. If someone wanted it, most likely they have been able to get the vaccine.

The 12-15 year olds have reached the point of getting their second vaccine. My two 12 year olds get their second dose tomorrow. They got their first one about a week or so after it was approved for their age. Our mass vaccination center is still open.

I should have said are closing- all of ours are closing at the end of the month.

I just want to have an idea of what rules I should follow in 10 days. It seems like restaurant capacity is opening so I guess I should think about if I want to set a Oga’s alert?

That’s what I’m wondering. If the somewhat randomized access here led to us seeing better case trends vs the UK where large subsets of the population weren’t eligible because of age and risk level.

I would set alerts. They can’t keep capacity at restaurants down too much longer. It’s literally going to turn into the Hunger Games trying to get an ADR.

My 15yo will be one week post second dose tomorrow. :sun_with_face:

I myself am THRILLED by this news!!! Been praying Disney would get rid of this mandate before our July trip!!! Now bring on single rider and full capacity rides!!!

This seems to say restaurants are being increased?

I am thinking they are very eager to get rid of the social distancing and capacity in many of the tight real estate places that exist in DLR as it’s made a headache for more than a few things.

I’m also super hopeful that character meets and some smaller in park entertainment (like the band) will be able to take another step towards livening the park.

I told my DH months ago that I thought our Nov/Dec trip would be very close to normal. So far, it seems to be heading that way. Now I’m hoping for a real Christmas party, not an after hours event. I have 5 people in my party and that event is just too much $ for very little time.

I wonder exactly how this is going to be enforced (if at all) in kids under 12, who won’t be vaccinated.

Curiouser and curiouser

Most blogs are saying that it probably won’t be enforced for anyone… It is too big of an ask for already overtaxed CMs

I think by then, it will definitely be more normal! We have a family member who is trying to decide on a trip to DLR either at Halloween or Christmas. They love the Halloween party (DLR doesn’t have a Christmas one) but they’ve never done Christmas time at any Disney park. She’s a teacher though so she can only take off during school breaks and she’s been during Fall Break, doesn’t love how busy it is so thought maybe she would try Christmas break- I had to break the news to her that it’s SO much worse crowds-wise.

I don’t think its that difficult, really. CM’s have dealt with worse this pandemic… having them reminding parents to mask their kids up is no worse than them reminding everyone to do it now. I just don’t think they will, and I don’t really believe parents will do the right thing either. I guess it depends on the parent. But you don’t have to ask for proof with kids under 12 because there is no vaccine for them yet.
