I booked a night at AKL without the dining plan. We are moving to YC the next day. Disney wants to give me more Magic Bands?

On line, when you customize your MBs, you can opt out. But, unless you have others, from a earlier visit, I would get both. It’s always nice to have spares.

I know. I have a split stay and then added a couple of nights at the same hotel for my DD and Disney seems to think we need three sets of bands. Try rationalising this to DD and DS who want to save the planet. I suppose it means you can have different colours and spares if any fall off. 
Yes you get magic bands as a perk of an onsite stay. You have 2 bookings, you get 2 bands.

You can decline the second set it you’d rather not have them. It doesn’t matter which ones you use - they’re both connected to your MDE account, and no information is actually stored on the Magic Band itself.

Yes! This is why I never decline the bands.
