For those not using Magic Bands at DLR, do you just use your phone or a ticket card? Do people carry the cards around with a lanyard? Thanks
Disneyland is completely digital and will not give you a ticket card anymore. So phone it is. Or buy magic bands, I find them very handy for the parks, especially if you are buying LLs and have to scan in for rides.
The only Magic Bands that DLR uses are the MB+ ones. If you already have a Magic Band Plus from WDW or DCL, it can also be used at DLR. The older Magic Bands (that you can’t recharge) do not work at DLR.
If you use a MB+ from WDW, you need to re-pair it with the Disneyland MDE app. I hadn’t done that and our MB+ didn’t work for our first entry, so I had to pull out my phone. Then we decided the phones would just be what we used and I never bothered pairing them anyway.
Will one phone carry the LL for everyone in your party? It’s not like MB where each person needs their own?
You can do that, or let each person log into your account so they can show the rectangular QR code on their own phone. Which way you prefer depends on the makeup of your group.
For DH and me, I used my MB+ because I had a WDW one and it’s easier, while he used his phone while logged into my DLR account. I’m the only one with Disney accounts. As a party of two, it was also easy to use one phone and swipe side to side to scan both of us. If you have a large group or young children, it can be more challenging.
If you have every one’s ticket linked to your Tickets & Passes in the DL App and have an LL for each person, then yes, one phone/account will have all the LL’s. But you’ll need to scan a QR code for each person’s LL and as muzzy mentioned if your group is larger, it can be a process to scan > swipe > scan > swipe > scan > swipe > scan. You’ll also need to do the same for park entry, but since you enter less than you scan for LL’s it’s not as tedious.
As soon as DLR brought MagicBand+ we started bringing the ones we bought on a WDW trip and ever since then, I have far preferred using the band, even just for entry. Also, right now for the 70th they have some fun scavenger hunt tap points for each of the original attractions that are activated by the MagicBand+ and we really enjoyed hunting all those down.
Is Apple Watch able to serve as a substitute for MB+? We only have the previous version of MBs (before they added the +).
Is there any chance of using a paper copy of the QR code? Easier for us to use those in a lanyard. We have bunches of Magic Bands, no MB+, sadly and kids without their own phones.
You know what? I think this should work. You would need the QR code of the ticket and it links to the LLs automatically. It’s certainly worth a try! Report back if you do it.
The last I checked (which was admittedly Summer 2024 so quite awhile) the DL Mobile app wasn’t compatible with Apple Watch. I did just open up my DL app and I don’t see the MagicMobile entry in it like there is for WDW’s app. So I would venture a guess that it still isn’t.
If I have a party of 4, I only need one phone to scan all 4 of us into a LL, correct? Do you actually scan the phone 4 times or just once?
if this is the case, does a party of 4 only need one Magic Band to scan in the entire party?
Let’s say I have 4 LL for an attraction. Can 2 people in my party use 2 LL, then those same 2 people use the other 2 LL to ride again? We do this at WDW swapping Magic Bands
4 times (and you have to manually switch the redemption code between each time).
Each person would need their own magic band, it is linked to a person just like at WDW.
Thanks for the reply! So it sounds like when using a phone in a party of 4, 2 people can scan in to ride, then ride again with the two unused LL
Yes we do this all the time. All tickets and LLs can be accessible from everyone’s phone, so if you scan in with a phone you can use someone else’s LL if you want.
