Lorcana Trading card Game

Is this still a thing? I thought I read recently that these cards sell out w/in minutes in Disney shops… is that true? I know my DDs were collecting them.

I found some today walking down a street in Montpellier, France.

I went in to ask about them… to see if they actually had any. Of course, it began w/ “Bonjour!” If you do not say this upon entering, you will receive poor service. Patients even say “Bonjour” as they enter the drs. waiting room :woman_shrugging: Anyway, I began, “Bonjour! Pardon Monsieur, Je suis American est mon Francais es malade” And they immediately switched to English. I’m okay w/ that b/c I view it as a kindness. Anyway, they had cards behind the counter but they were various BIG boxes so I asked about smaller pkgs and they said, “In French” So I tried .. “Je voudrais Lorcana (french accent) cards, si vous plait” They started laughing and apologized… non, sorry we are not French teachers. It was very funny. so they brought out a box of the card pkg to show and made sure I wanted the latest ones.

I picked up the Winne the Pooh and they exclaimed, “Non, non, non, that one is cursed, put it down!” Under it was Sully so I took that one and then there was another WtP under Sully and I confirmed that this was not cursed  (my oldest DD is a WtP fan).

I had too much fun in the store, I’ll go back when I have more time and not keep friends waiting outside.
BTW: the Poste sometimes will refuse to mail letters or pkgs to the USA stating, “America is not accepting packages right now. They will not take deliveries due to tarriffs” So, I’ll have to find out if I can mail them to my daughter’s or not ???

There is a card shop in my area that has Lorcana night on Thursdays. They draw about 6 - 10 people each week. When it first came out it was harder to get. This was due to not enough supply. Game makers tend to under produce for new games. This way they don’t get stuck with a lot of unsold product if it’s not a success.

I know you can get promo cards at Disney Parks as well!

It’s a game I keep meaning to try, but I have a hard time going out on weeknights to learn.

But then these darn Pokemon cards. Ugh. I heard those printers are going 24/7/365 to make more cards, but it’s never enough. Scalpers take the lot and post them online for 5x their retail value.

I wonder if a scalper can make enough money to pay for a trip to France??

I just remembered that currently in France the Poste has been regularly refusing to send anything to the USA, letters, postcards, pkg. etc., because… they say, “The US isn’t accepting deliveries right now.” or “We don’t send anything to the US b/c of tariffs” Also, on the rare occasion la poste would send a pkg to the US the recipients might have to pay custom fees… So, if scalpers could figure out a way to make money online on Ebay or something they would have too much trouble with the Poste, or if they brought back a lot they might have trouble with customs.

Lorcana isn’t that popular here, though. I mean, there are a number of people who play it, but it’s not like Pokemon.
