LLSP refund for chickening out?

Has anyone ever been able to get a refund on an LLSP if your kid chickened out and decided not to ride? My 11 y/o insists she doesn’t want to ride GotG but me, her dad, and sis all want to do it. I bought LLSP for the 3 of us for next Sun and could still get one for her just in case. But I’m 80% sure she won’t change her mind. I would just hate to leave her out if she somehow gets brave after doing some other attractions and decides she wants to do it. What would you do?

Not for this reason but I have been able to get a refund a few times so I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow it.

I can say there was a time when we attempted a ride with a LLSP (it was actually FOP), and my child opted out just before boarding. So we’d tapped in and everything, but child did not ultimately ride. I did talk to Guest Relations, and they would not refund it because we had tapped in. I understand that because they had no way of knowing. I also think a different CM–or even the same CM on a different day–might have handled it differently. It felt pretty discretionary. Just another anecdotal data point for you.

Honestly? I would hand off the child’s MB and let someone in the party ride it again. The question, of course, is which one of you will have to do the hard task of waiting in that line alone for a second ride?

There are no guarantees, but you might be able to plead your case and get a refund depending on the CM you speak to. If it were me and she decided not to ride, I would go to guest services as soon as you get off the ride so WDW would potentially still have time to sell the LLSP slot to someone else (rather than waiting until later in the day to request the refund).

I think it’s definitely cast member discretion on the refunds. We had gotten a LLSP for DH and he decided he didn’t want to ride it with the LL (unfortunately it now makes him sick, but we didn’t find that out until we had rope dropped to ride it once and he was like nope). I was able to get a refund when I explained it, but I can also see them saying no, especially if we had tapped in. Personally if you think there’s a chance that she’ll ride, I’d get the LLSP so you can all try and if she really doesn’t want to ride definitely ask a blue umbrella!

I can’t remember if you board and unboard at the same place?

If so, I think the CM at boarding would allow someone to wait with her and then allow the adult and other child to ride after.

Even if that isn’t an option, they might well be willing to issue a rider swap.

I think CM discretion
When DC freaked out on the ride for Rise and so did not ride and when I met them after I rode at the exit and they were crying they regretted their choices.
I was able to talk Guest Services and get another set of LLs for them and I so we could try again. Not quite what your asking but similar

We got LLSP refund for this situation specifically. Back when GotG also had virtual queue we had ridden with the virtual queue first thing in the morning and had LLSP booked for later that day because I was sure we would all love it. My then 7 yo son decided it was too scary (because of the bad guy on the screen) and didn’t want to ride it again. I went to guest services and they refunded all four of our LLSPs with no issue. Now he is 9 and of course it is one of his favorite rides.

I did this with LLMP when my husband decided he didn’t want to ride Dinosaur. I got two last rides.

I have gotten a refund for FoP when one of my kids ended up being too short. As someone else suggested, another option would be to get a RS pass for the waiting adult plus one re-rider, then use the extra LL for a second re-rider.

It always sucks when the kids are in the “I am barely tall enough by a hair or barely not tall enough by a hair” stage where it depends on which CM is doing the measuring. I remember DD being remeasured after waiting in the line for FOP and she was so nervous when they were measuring. Fortunately she made it, but it was very close.

I think it would be better to just use the extra LL as a sort of faster RS. The trouble with your suggestion is there aren’t enough people to take advantage of it. Any “extra rider” leaves DD11 all alone.

My thought would be:

  1. Mom and DD ride together, each using their LLs. Dad and DD11 wait.
  2. Once Mom and DD are off, Mom takes DD11, and Dad takes DD using DD11’s LL.

This is essentially rider swap, but without the hassle of needing to get the RS.

I suppose using RS, you COULD do this:

  1. Mom (or Dad) and DD ride using LL, and obtain a RS for other parent.
  2. Dad (or Mom) uses RS with DD (DD being the extra rider).
  3. Now, Mom or Dad use their LL, plus DD11’s LL.

This ultimately gives DD three rides instead of 1, and either Mom or Dad getting 2. BUT, it is a lot of time commitment, since each time through the LL is still about 20 minutes.

I’ve done this approach, too. Just depends on how much we want to allow re-rides vs. just being ok riding once each.
