Liners on the High Seas 🚢

I don’t know where I got that from?

This is GREAT dinning intel, Thank you! We did add on the specialty dinning pkg and will have 3 nights that will req. a reservation. We still eat the ā€œAmericanā€ way of an early evening supper opposed to a European style of 7pm or later…. we can’t do the latter :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Anyway, we find that we are usually dinning alone at that time (in the EU); maybe it will be similar on the cruise

We have thought about that too but taking our own boat through it… although I’m NOT interested in doing a Pacific crossing on our boat.

It is such a GREAT deal! We are too excited about it… counting down

Checked in for my Wish cruise last night! :white_check_mark:

This is where being in the Pacific time zone paid off. I was done by a few minutes after 9pm. Thanks to @lolabear_la’s detailed instructions on what to have ready at check-in, I was able to get through everything pretty fast. My first cabin got the 11:45-12:00 PAT, but my second cabin got 12:00-12:15, so I switched cabin 1 to match. I don’t really mind having a little bit more time to hang out at BRV before we hit the road.

Question: Any thoughts on port parking? We will have a rental car that we will be parking at the port for the 3 nights of our cruise. What are the options and the pros / cons?

Port Canaveral, right? We just parked in the garage. I had figured up that the daily rate + our car rental was as cheap or cheaper than transportation for all of us when we did our cruise a few years back. I think it was just the main garage, but I can check if I still have details if you want!

Yes, sorry - should have specified.

Thanks for your response. Is ā€œthe garageā€ a Disney owned garage at the port? Or does the port own it? Are there other third-party garages nearby? Do you have to make a reservation or can you just show up and pay to park?

I want to say it was this garage because we dropped people at the terminal and then parked. We didn’t have to take a shuttle from anywhere.

I don’t recall having to make a reservation; I’m pretty certain we just got a ticket when we pulled in and then paid the daily rate when we left. I can see if I still have any receipts or notes when I’m home later. This was also a few years back, so things very well could have changed too!

Looking at Google maps, there is also this option, a bit further away- https://www.parkportcanaveral.com

ETA- here is the port parking site. It’s just $17/day prepay and does not need reservations!

Yup that’s what I recall doing for the Wish too. The garage is literally across from the Disney terminal. you just cross the street. Like you we dropped our bags at the curb with the bag stewards, then parked and went thru security in the terminal.

Same for me, I think I went in 2022. Back in the day when a day or two before we had to get on a video call and do a covid test in front of someone to get on the ship!

Thank you both!

We also used this garage for our Magic cruise and the end of June - super easy. We just followed the signs for Terminal 8 and then pulled over to the curb on the right to drop off all bags and let passengers out. My sister then drove our van over to the garage (the entrance is just opposite from where you drop off the bags, you can see it). She parked the car and arrived at the front of the check in terminal before the kids even had to time to come back from the restroom.

It was $17 a day (plus tax). No need to reserve in advance. I think there are off site parking lots that are slighly cheaper, but then you need to get a ride share back over to your terminal. This just seemed much more convenient.

That’s cheap enough for me to not bother looking for alternatives. Thanks!

Turns out my cruise on the Wish is out of Terminal 10, but from the instructions I found, it’s basically the same deal, right next door.

Yay for check-in being easy! It gets to be second hand as you do it again, especially for 2 cabins. And I’ve also never had the second cabin be in the same 15 min. window as the first & gone back and adjusted the first one to match the second. But I’m also ok with the next window over.

For parking, I would agree not to look for anything other than the parking garage just next to the terminal because it’s a pretty reasonable fee (for parking anyway). You do have to pay for both arrival and departure day of parking. So your total will be $68 ($17 x 4 days). And it is now pay on arrival (I believe it used to be pay on departure, because I’d read all about it being that, but the one time we drove to Canaveral in a rental, Feb 2025, it was pay on arrival).

It was super easy to get to, with plenty of help from signage to know where to drive into & then people to help navigate luggage drop-off first, then parking. We opted to stay together instead of having to meet back up after Dad parked the car. And the garage is literally right there across the street.

We were in terminal 8 when we parked a car so I’m not sure if it’s the same in terminal 10, but we parked on level 3 that had a pedestrian bridge to walk across and for that garage and terminal, the ship was in position to be a fun backdrop for photos on that bridge. But again, not certain if the parage for terminal 10 is exactly the same.

Having a car parked to take off in after getting off the ship is my absolute favorite so I’m so happy you’ll be doing that! The biggest bonus for me is that the stroller we’ inevitably bring for park days before or after and all the car seats can just stay in the car and don’t have to be lugged onto & off the ship just to be stowed away.

For our December cruise, we are using Disney Cruise Line transportation. How does disembarkation day work in terms of timing and getting to the bus? We are headed back to WDW (SSR). Do those taking Disney transportation disembark sooner/later than everyone else???

We did this in July, and to be honest it seemed like you could just get off whenever you wanted.

I had booked the the transport by phone (because I only needed it for the return, but not for arrival) and it appeared in the app - but I was never given a specific disembarkation or bus departure time. In fact, I just checked and I never even got a confirmation email, the bus transfer is just listed (without any timing) on the general booking.

I had no desire to get off the ship quickly, so we turned up at breakfast at 8am, the time that our servers told us the night before (I think the time also appeared in the DCL app, like your evening dining times). No one rushed us or asked about onward transportation. Once everyone was ready, and we’d taken some final family photos, we strolled off around 9am and collected our luggage to clear customs. I followed the signs to the Disney buses and once I arrived was asked which resort I was heading to before being directed to a specific bus. I have a photo of us on the bus from 9.17am. We waited no more than 10 min before the bus departed (with three travel parties/families, I believe). There were only two drop offs for our bus (AoA and CBR), and we were the second one.

So my guess is that they just herd people into groups of resorts/general resort areas as and when they come out, and then dispatch buses?

I may be totally wrong and it’s more structured than that (and we totally missed some vital information!) But it felt pleasantly relaxed to me

That’s a bit surprising to me! It seems inefficient of them to have mostly empty buses running frequently! But…I suppose Disney needs to cover for variations in how long it takes people to disembark and get through customs.

Very likely they need to get the buses back to the resorts and airport to bring more cruisers.

I think everyone already answered but I will add to give yourself and extra 30 minutes because we had to wait in a long line of cars to get into the port and they were already letting in people in the next PAT line by the time we made it over.

Please help me remember…if I am taking Disney transportation from Wilderness Lodge to Port Canaveral…..is there any reason for me to wake up at midnight to do the online check in?

I’m curious what this is referring to (regardless of whether you are using Disney transportation or not).

In past experience, they adjusted your port arrival time if you take Disney transport.
