I think Maleficent would be easier to pull off cause you really just need her aura / mood and then it will work. For ENG you’re gonna need a good story, which could make it better! But it is a risk. Making Maleficent a dark ride introduces the same problem - it would be easier as a coaster but as a dark ride it needs story. I almost think it would be better to do the reverse - dark ride ENG, coaster Maleficent. But we’ll see what these Imagineers concoct with their apparent free reign!
Well done matters a lot to me, whether I love the IP or not. I know nothing about HP, but Hagrid’s blew my mind.
Yes. Yzma could be a great dark ride. Either true to the story or another escapade of hers.
A ROTR ride (which is also a little like Remy) has so much potential for any IP. Just get it right?!
Ryan - I didn’t see ENG forever myself. And now it is a favorite. Kuzco is voiced by David Spade and the character oozes David Spade. Pacha is Dan Goodman. Kronk is Patrick Warburton. Yzma is Eartha Kitt. They work so well together.
I’d never say, “Trust me! You’ll love it!” Movies don’t work that way.
But I was sure I’d hate it and I did not.
Am I the only one watching to see how long Len is gonna go on typing before we get to read what he’s going to share
I already know that @len isn’t going to say a thing. We’re still waiting to hear his story about (something) that he was going to tell us in 2025… ![]()
Agreed. I love Tron but have not watched either of the most recent movies. I’ve also never watched all of any Avatar film but find the land delightful. A good ride is far more important to me than the IP.
On Friday, the South Florida Water Management District released updated permits filed by Disney for Villains Land:
- The building for the dark ride is now 11,000 s.f. larger (13%) than the plans filed in January
- The coaster building is now 10,000 s.f. larger (18%) than the plans from January
Or as I said online:
I’m so glad you didn’t come on here and burst bubbles.
But were you typing with one hand behind your back? You took forEVer. ![]()
Sorry - was trying to fix dinner in between. I need to figure out how to get everything to finish cooking at the same time.
For a dark ride, I would prefer a multi-villain story (while not rides, Fantasmic! and Unfairly Ever After are examples of this). With a 1 villain dark ride storyline, it is too tempting for WDW to take the easy route and mostly re-tell the original story (like Journey of the Little Mermaid) or not create much of a storyline at all (like FEA).
I haven’t seen ENG since it was in theaters. This clip has me wanting to watch it again and introduce the kids to it. Thanks!
Side note: I didn’t remember The Girl from Ipanema was played in the movie.
This is great news! I hope the Imagineers nail this one.
Isn’t there an algorithm for this somewhere?
There has to be.
It will certainly be interesting.
If it is just the retelling, but the ride is named after the villain, it would probably be different in delivery than the original.
I could see Maleficent as a dark ride. In fact, I’d love it. Start with her not invited…. End with her dragon self about to be slain. In the midst we’ve got briars jumping out of the floor around us. Flames everywhere.
Maybe we could be in Flora, Fauna and Meriweather pods (?).
I could dig it.
1.) Make reservations
Honestly - it’s why I’m more likely to order a burger out than trying to make them at home. I can get good beef, hand press. Etc. But man I have a hard time getting the sides hot at the same time. One or the other gets cold.
