The H2O Glow event starts at 8pm but you can arrive as early as 6pm. So have got changed and packed up and am ready to go!

Oh. There is torrential rain. That is forecast to continue till at least 8pm.

Regular readers (especially those who take notes, @dianelynn) will remember that the first time I tried to attend this event (this time last year?) it rained heavily almost as soon as I arrived and didn’t stop the whole evening. Eventually I bailed, having had zero value from the event.

The only MNSSHP I attended saw rain for most of the evening. And one of the MVMCPs I attended suffered from such heavy rain that Disney refunded everyone.

And you people wonder why I have anger issues.

My bad. It’s actually a massive storm that just made the building shake.

I’m late to this thread but love all the chatter about best UOR rides, and all the luv you and Darkmite are giving Universal! We are all huge Harry Potter fans and thrill seekers at heart (my 9 year old most of all, so we couldn’t get enough of all UOR had to offer. Sadly, I never made it on Hagrids (it was down a whole bunch) but my boys finally did. We rode VC 6-8 times, Hulk maybe 4, and on down from there.

I was there last July with my boys almost the same week you are there. 2 nights at Hard Rock for the express passes and 3 nights at the Aventura (in the same curved premium room that you stayed in).

The ONLY downside was the heat. For us, it indescribably hot. And, every time we’d get settled into the pool at Hard Rock (sun shining, beautiful, cooling off in the water), the hotel’s super sensitive lightening finders would go off and they’d clear the pool for hours and hours and hours b/c some storm was headed our way.

At one point, we didn’t think we’d ever be able to use the pool at the Hard Rock at all given we toured in the AM, then had a break mid-afternoon, then went back to the parks in the evening.

Even when we went to Volcano Bay, the park closed down all rides in the late afternoon due to the weather (we were fine as we were water parked out by then).

Dining for was just OK for us. A to go order from Toothsome took longer than it took my boys to ride Hagrids!

Probably wouldn’t go back in July just b/c of all the dodging and weaving around afternoon thunderstorms, but can’t wait to go back to UOR overall. Next up though, back to Cedar Point in early October. Love, love that park, especially Halloween time.

Where? Too bad, guess we can all cross it off the must do list. To bad it was a disappointment, with all the wind up it had. Guess when they didn’t have it you dodged a bullet. :woman_shrugging: :innocent:

My takeaway is don’t go to special ticket events with @umbridgepink unless you want it to rain. :raccoon:

It was … fine. There needed to be more mash and more sauce: for the last third I was just chewing my way through kinda dry, kinda tough meat.

Also, the service wasn’t great. I thought the whole idea of me paying an extra 20% was so that I don’t have to ask for my water to be topped up. It was the same at The Palm.

That stinks. Bad service is very frustrating. The more you pay, the more frustrating.

I don’t know what to do about H2O. It was genuinely miserable last time. I’m tempted to bail and maybe hope Disney will refund me. I could chill in my room and watch American tv. Or maybe go to Disney Springs and eat and maybe see the drone show. Well if that even runs.

In both cases the servers were charming and friendly. But I thought the deal is that they’re proactive and anticipate needs.

Ahh, yeah sometimes it’s a fine balance for a server to hit. I have been places where I swear the server was there after every sip I took refilling the water! Messes up the I must drink one whole glass of water before I can drink soda or get a dessert etc.

Looks like rain/storms through 9:00. Ugh!

I’ve called it. I’m bailing on the event. It was cold and miserable last time when it rained all night. You’re just standing in wet clothes huddled under whatever shelter you can find while all the attractions are closed. I don’t know why I didn’t get a refund last time.

Disney Springs is out, too. It’s actual proper rain. That will be no fun.

So I’m in the hell of the food court, filled with ill-disciplined, screaming children.

Get a Mickey bar or some sweet treat to bring back to the room. Watch some Mickey cartoons, relax, and enjoy the evening.

I’ve gone for the whole starter / main course experience and chosen the shrimp and sesame chicken. With a bottle of water it came to $33. And it’s pretty good, actually.

Just looked at the radar and forecast and I think you made the right decision. Doesn’t look like the rain will stop for at least two hours and probably will continue after that.
