Kids ride order

I have a soon to be 9 year old girl. Reading the unofficial guide has scared me a bit in terms of ride intenisty for her. Does anybody have or know of a list to build her up from low intensity to the top intensity rides?

Hi! Welcome to the forums! I love Universal. Let me assure you there are many attractions designed for kids. They’re just famous for more big thrills than say Disney. I made this list a while back when someone asked the same question. They wanted me to compare the rides to WDW. There are plenty of shows & activities that aren’t “rides” that I didn’t put on this list that kids should enjoy! I hope it helps!

USF

Despicable Me = 3-D Movie (No Motion)

DreamWorks Destination – Shrek character meeting, Kung Fu Panda attraction and multiple children’s play areas and a stage show.

Escape From Gringotts’s – Indoor “dark” coaster with 3-D projections (Spins & mild drops)

E.T. Adventure = Dark Ride (Peter Pan’s Flight)

Fast & Furious = Dark Ride (Projections & Effects while riding on slow tram)

Hogwarts Express = Slow train / transportation between parks w/ on board show

Men in Black = Shooting Gallery (Buzz Lightyear Spin)

Mummy = Medium coaster in dark w/ effects and launches (Space Mt., but a bit faster & cooler)

Race thru NY w/ Jimmy Fallon = Mild 3-D Simulator w/ motion (Star Tours)

Rip Ride Rock’it = Extreme Coaster

Simpsons Ride = 3-D Simulator w/ motion (Star Tours)

Transformers = 3-D Simulator w/ motion (Star Tours)

TrollerCoaster – Very mild children’s “coaster”. (Barnstormer at Magic Kingdom)

Villian-Con Minion Blasts – Stand up on conveyer belt shooting gallery (Buzz Lightyear Spin)

IOA

Camp Jurassic – Children’s rope course & slides with exploration caves & splash pad/water cannons

Doctor Doom FearFall = Extreme Drop Tower (It shoots you up fast instead of slow ascent w/ drop)

Dudley Do-Right Ripsaw Falls = Log Flume Ride (pretty basic w/ smaller drop than Splash Mt.)

Forbidden Journey = Unique Ride – spins & rotates. Simulates drops in the dark. Mildly “scary”

Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure = Extreme Coaster w/ multiple launches. Designed for all ages. It will depend on if your child has any previous coaster experience. No inversions, but dark areas & “Thrills”

Incredible Hulk Coaster = Extreme steel coaster with a launch & multiple inversions

Jurassic Park River Adventure = Log Flume w/ effects (a “scarier” Splash Mountain w/ smaller drop)

Me Ship, The Olive – children’s play area with slides and interactive play areas

Popeye & Bluto’s Barges = Rapid Raft Ride (Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom)

Pteranodon Fliers– Mildly intense suspended “swinging coaster” (nothing comparable)

Reign of Kong = Dark Ride (Projections & Effects while riding on slow tram)

Spider-Man = “4-D” Dark Ride Motion Simulator (Star Tours, but w/ effects & better)

Storm Force Accelerator = Spinning Ride (Mad Tea Party)

Commentary on Pteranodon Fliers. Unlike most kids rides, random adults can’t ride it. Adults like it too, and its throughput is very low. So, they instituted a rule that anyone over X height can only ride with someone under Y height. The idea is to limit the adults to a parent riding with their kid. You’ll see jokes on facebook Universal groups about adults offering to bribe random kids to ride P. Fliers with them as their ‘ticket’.

As a family we’ve gone to Universal three times. Daughter is only willing to wait in the line once per trip. First trip I got to ride it. Second trip she took DH. Third trip we went with another family and DD’s friend is very tall, so she took the friend onto the ride.

I don’t know why us adults like it. I think because it is somewhat unique.

There are actual FB groups that will “rent” you kids…

I looked into it. The parents meet you there and accompany you all the way to the loading/unloading station. I’ve debated doing it!:rofl:

I got to ride it once. It’s awesome! It goes way faster than you’d expect and swings way out side-to-side. I did it at night and the view was brilliant.

Getting the chance to ride it again is the ONLY reason I want grandkids!:rofl::shark::shark::crazy_face:
