We split up for dinner. DD, me and my parents ate at Queen of Banquets and it was delicious. dH and his mom ate curry at Hungry Bear. They said it was also good
We’ve overdone ourselves going above and beyond the plan the last two days. Here’s tomorrow’s:

🪼 Ride Jumpin’ Jellyfish

Ride The Whirlpool
🪽 Ride Scuttle’s Scooters
Ride Flounder’s Flying Fish Coaster

- Ask to sit outside if the weather is nice
- Recommendation: Pizza Margherita & Tiramisu
and here’s to hoping it goes faster with lower crowds and cooler weather like the last two days!
Also you have to pay to use the train to Disneyland or DisneySea so either have an ICCard or yen in cash cuz the machines do not take credit cards. It’s 260yen pp each way.
Important to note as well it’s hard to get coffee in the buffet at Oceano. They are weirdly restrictive. Like juice is on the buffet but coffee and tea have to come from your server. They don’t check on you often or early and it takes a bit to get your coffee and then if you want a refill (cuz they pour half of a tiny cup) you have to wave them down and if the person you wave down isn’t your actual server (even if they are literally holding the coffee pot) they have to go get your actual server. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. So if you’re like me and need two actual cups (like 6-8 oz cups) to survive. Be persistent. This is from two days in a row and tomorrow will be the third so I can confirm.
It’s actually good coffee but it’s not espresso (so that’s not the reason for the short pours)
Though I agree the Disney cast members are very pleasant and waving, etc there is a strong undercurrent of racism we are all feeling. Lots of comments yesterday of “Japanese size” and “American size” from multiple employees, and one mother pulled her child who stood next to us very close to her and wrapped her arms around her. What’s weird is in China I felt more of a curiosity. They would just grab us and take a picture or grab my daughters hair (which was in braids) but I felt more like it was they see very little people of any other race and are curious but do not fear. There is an undercurrent here of superiority and fear I didn’t feel in China. On the other hand they know how to queue and don’t push and shove so they both have their ups and downs. Nor have I seen any children just peeing in the middle of the sidewalk or behind a trash can in the Disneyland park. Lol. But Just some of my perception/observations for whatever that’s worth.
One thing that did bother me with the premier access for the nighttime show in Sea park was that only package holders could sit down in the very front but Americans can’t buy that experience as part of our package. I know American parks sell diff packages to Europeans for example and I wonder if any of them have ever experienced better perks available to American package holders?
We used happy entry but TDR explorer said only tsm and Soarin were open. There is no official list on Disney site so we headed to Soarin first thing and it already had a 60 min wait so we’re just gonna use our premier pass for this afternoon. We walked to little mermaid land and they let us in but rides didn’t start till 9am. (They did say Indy was open during Happy Entry but we’ve ridden that too and it’s good but not as good as DLR) so since according to thrill data blowfish balloon race gets the longest line of the things we don’t have priority/premier pass for we hopped in line about 845 and were the first in line. But the other two indoor rides didn’t open till 9:30am so we rode the two outdoor rides. Scuttles scooters is my fave so far cuz it has a twist (literally) on a carnival classic. Then back inside with still time till 9:30 so we shopped and used the restroom. My parents forgot their water bottles (DH and DMIL tapped out and did not join us today…I broke them I think). And there is literally no water bottles to buy in this entire land. So DD gave them hers and there is a water fountain to refill. Here if a stand sells popcorn for example that is all it sells. No drinks. ![]()
Then it was 9:28 so we hopped in the line for The Whirlpool which was the appropriate amount of spin for me and fun. (Said 15 min but didn’t feel like it. I didn’t time). Jumpin jellyfish also said 15 but it actually feeling like that is gonna be correct. Parents opted out of whirlpool and jellyfish and are playing in the playground so we’ll check that out next and then can sign off on this land and move to whatever they call the agrabah style area. For some reason these two lands their names don’t stick in my brain. So I’m calling mermaid and agrabah. Lol.
Sorry to hear about bad experiences.
When my kids were little, I did this exact thing if my kids stood too close to someone, e.g. in line to not bother people next to us. Could this be the reason?
Maybe it was my mom and dad.
But without a doubt there is something there. One of our guides said during Covid that on the tv they would say americans spread Covid more because we had bigger noses. I don’t think it’s necessarily evil but it’s something you can feel from time to time.
Um, yes, yes you did.
Yasssss
This is really worrying me for our trip (yes, I’m calling it that now. We have flights there and 2/3 hotels!!!). My husband’s crustacean allergy is life threatening. If a piece of shrimp even touches his plate and then he touches it, he goes into anaphylaxis. Happened two weeks ago.
I feel like a lot of “American” things that other cultures find offensive…like we take up space and use our outdoor voices and are very casual and sometimes confrontational, for instance and as generalities… Are extra offensive in Japanese culture? Idk. I’m sorry you’re having that experience ![]()
If you had one day at TDL/DS, would that be enough to redo your favorites?
Yea and tbh DM slightly negative turn on things did bother me a bit but she did say she could be wrong. But as a southerner there is something to the niceness being fake. Bless your heart doesn’t mean good things. Lmao. But there are many many truly kind sweet people and yes some of our customs I find obnoxious too. We all have our ups and downs. We’re a bit too individualistic as a culture. Me Me and now now. I noticed the diff b/w coffee culture after spend a couple of weeks in NZ and then going to a Starbucks. Everyone here has thirteen different individual changes to whatever is on the menu and when the restaurant inevitably gets it wrong boy do we loudly complain. I recently witnessed a family member complain to Best Buy that their unavailability in TV delivery men was a literal emergency for her. SMH.
On a more positive note. Today at breakfast a toddler was bawling her eyes out. I happen to be carrying packs of Disney stickers. It worked immediately. My mom thought they might be offended by my offer but after their breakfast they came over and the mom was thanking me and she said as she held the remaining stickers in the hand opposite her child how they had made the little girl happy. The girl repeats “happy” as she reaches for them. Absolutely adorable!
Do you mean if you just have one day at each park? Or both in one day?
I think that depends if you want to do everything or have a handful of attractions multiple times. And also are you willing to throw money at it? Let me count what we got done…
Day 1 8:15 arrival to entrance with no happy entry to DisneySea
13 rides
3 shows (1 at a quick service meal so a combo)
2 additional table service meals accomplished
Still had about 30 min left we could have hopped in additional lines
Day 2 8:10 arrival with happy entry Disneyland
14 rides
1 walk thru
2 parades
1 show
2 quick service meals
Had about 45 min left we could have rode more
Day 3 8:15am arrival with happy entry DisneySea
10 rides
2 walk thrus
1 show
1 quick service
1 table service
Had a gap from 1:45pm-7:10pm so could have ridden a ton more stuff in there.
And we threw money at it wherever possible and used the free priority pass system.
We did not shop but we did do a couple of snack breaks each day like popcorn or ice cream.
I guess I never summed up Day 3 but we rode everything on the plan and Journey to the Center of the Earth two times right at close after dinner for three of us using premier access. Tea was a bit too much for me. I was hoping for what I had as Dim Sum in Hong Kong and what I can get in the states like dumplings and buns. It was not that. There were some things not super palatable to my taste buds but I tried it all. Also I’m a little tired of so many things in gelatin. It’s like our 50s cookbooks lol.
@FOMOm_VA with regards to allergy I didn’t even see fish on the list of things TDR marks. It was peanuts, milk, eggs, wheat and buckwheat. The one or two things at each restaurant in this list are free of all those things which is ridiculous. If you can’t have milk it shouldn’t keep you from eating peanuts. And this is literally all they pretty much had at all the quick service places (my mom had to get kids meals twice in order to actually order something different)
I’d honestly only do table service because there they bring an iPad and you click what you’re allergic to and it’s a bigger list. They’ll walk you thru what’s okay. You might be better with shellfish allergy cuz they put gluten in everything cuz of their sauces. But also things do constantly taste fishy so not sure if that’s fish oils?
Todays plan but we’re already at the driving part to Club Med

Also Congrats!! Very exciting.
Also in other news my rash is healing. I broke down and texted my dr uncle who wanted me to get an oral steroid but but I’m in Japan!!!. However his other recommendations of Zyrtec (stolen from DH), moms Rx steroid cream for her eczema and aleve helped. It did take time and wasn’t immediate but I’m on the up and up. It’s some kind of allergic reaction but I have no idea to what (maybe I’ll tell them it’s gelatin so I can avoid it the last few days ha ha). Good times. Lol
Btw this is much better than the other option he said it could be which was body lice! ![]()
But he said if no one else had it then that’s not it. Thank god they don’t cuz when I had the bed bug scare in NYC I had PTSD for about 6 months. I can’t handle these things. The world is full of icky things.
That’s the one thing that scares me about travel is the pests!
Yes and I just thought a country as focused on cleanliness as Japan it wouldn’t be a thing but some pests are durable. However I googled body lice and just washing stuff kills them so they’re not as durable as bed bugs. I’d think a good clean hotel wouldn’t have them?!? But what do I know.
Enjoying our room. We have the upstairs and Alanna has her own bedroom and bathroom downstairs. We have a view of the mountains. It’s lovely.
So ya know how the UG says go to WDW first and then the cruise when you do both. That’s kinda what this is. Club Med and Aulani last are just like that. This feels like a giant sigh after the go go go part of the vacay.
