Kawaii to Hawaii: Universal Japan, ABD Japan, Tokyo Disneyland, Club Med Hokkaido, & Aulani - A Trip Report

I did not have to wait 120 min for a second free one?

We are ahead of schedule (pronounced without the c!). We rode Venetian Gondolas was a five min wait (benches in line to sit), the electric railway also 5 min wait, we used our booked free priority pass for nemo so also about a 5 min wait and used one of our paper priority passes from package to ride Indy (prolly about 10 min wait). Now we’re at Duffy show lunch, We’ve eaten our quick service set meal and are waiting for the show to begin in glorious a/c.

And I was able to book another free priority pass. It seems like I could book 2 initially and then it was blocked out and since I just tried again maybe that 2 hours just elapsed

Maybe because the first one was immediately available I could book another?

Then we rode Aquatopia with our standby pass so walk on. DD and I got spritzed, DM and DF got wetter but not soaked, and DH and DMiL sat it out. very fun ride tho! Hopped on the electric railway which dropped us off right at the door step of 12:55pm Big Band Beat show which is right next door to our next premier access pass at 1:30(TSM) which is right next to door to our next Premier Access Pass at 2:00pm(ToT) which is right next door to our midafternoon reservation at 3pm for Teddy Roosevelt Lounge which is right next to our boat ride to Lost River Delta which drops off next to our 4:05pm Raging Spirits (free) Priority Access reservation and then we’ll hop right back on the boat across the bridge back to Mediterranean Harbor where we should be able to use our other priority pass from our reservation for 20,000 Leagues under the Sea which is right next to our 6pm Magellans dinner reservation which is right next to our Lido aisle seating for the nighttime show at 8pm. I feel like I nailed this plan but we all know ride closures can break the best laid plans! Fingers crossed.

Can you see the times and follow the path?

Lido Isle show (Believe!) is actually at 8pm. They just open the area at 6pm. Dinner is restricted to 75 min so we’ll have 45 min

Staying in Miracosta so we’re ending the day right at the front of the park so it’s just perfect. We’ve barely walked today.

Loved Big Band Beat. Combined two of my fave things. Then rode Toy Story which is the same but the line has Andy’s Bed! Then Tower of Terror which is comically funny to me. It’s not as intense as ours but it’s good fun. We had some time to kill before Teddy Roosevelt so we rode the Big City Vehicles and now we’re in the bar. They gave you 40 min to order and 70 min to drink/eat before they kick you out.

Also it’s 76 degrees cuz of the typhoon which thank heavens. I think it’s also keeping the people away which is wonderful cuz the walkways just don’t feel crowded.

You are killing it!

And we added Journey to the Center of that earth. You could do this whole park in on a day like today

Fun ride but short, same with Raging Spirits. We all liked 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (but it’s warm in there). Dinner at Magellan’s was excellent. And the Steamer around the park is a relaxing way to get a view of it all.

Next up Believe!

But also ugh that only Japanese can get the best seat because English packages don’t come with show passes. So even though we’re on Lido Isle we have to stand and it’s crowded and hot and people are blocking my view.

The other weird thing today was they closed Toy Story for thunder despite it’s indoors. We had extra time so this didn’t bother us but I couldn’t understand it for an indoor ride until I realized it’s not the ride they closed, it was the line because a chunk of its outdoors. And as soon as it died down they let us in (like 30 min). So um, they should cover the whole line? Just a bit weird. They also told us all we had to take off our rain jackets. I guess cuz they didn’t want the cars to get wet? They are much more insistent about taking your bag off one shoulder before you get to ride vehicle.

But having said all that it’s been a fantastic day with temps mostly mid 70s (first day since we’ve been here temps under 90s with feels in the 100s)

Here’s to hoping tomorrow is as smooth as today. Also, there were no down attractions today for anything other than thunder and that was short lived. It’s been a minute since I’ve been to an American park without having to turn around multiple times in one day because of ride breakdowns.

I keep trying to upload photos but it’s not letting me. I’ll try again tomorrow

The struggle is real yall with multiple things you can book priority pass for on different timers. Monsters Inc was not open during early entry and I had already grabbed priority pass for BatB and Space so we found Pooh open and it’s wonderful. Thought Haunted Mansion was open (unlike other rides like iasw where they weren’t even letting people on) because they were letting us in but it was a lie and We’re not moving but now we’re committed. Sigh.

This is what I did this AM:

FYI DH is 6’5”, my DF is 6’2” and DMIL is 6’ and they told us Americans are too big and that Space Mountain is for Japanese. That’s literally how they said it. Language barrier we’re gonna try and give them some credit. So they made us go up the exit to do a test (why they don’t have a height check or test seat outside like they did for Raging Spirits idk. Anyway DH passed so they could all ride but just an FYI for any tall folks.

We did not win the lottery for Mickeys Magical Musical World show (didn’t try for Club Mouse Beat as this one looked better to me and with two parades on my must do list I thought four would be too much show like things). But we were able to get into first show arriving 35 min early (10:15am for 10:50 show). The first show of the day does not have lottery so if you don’t win and it’s high on your list just go to first one of the day 30+ min early.

And can confirm you can book new Priority Pass as soon as your last booked one becomes valid. Not necessarily when you use it. Or 120 min

Disneyland here is not very gluten friendly. They have the exact same menu at every single quick service which is potatoes in either curry or gravy with rice. No protein. They claim their salads, eggs at the breakfast buffet, etc all have gluten somehow. DM is really struggling. She also doesn’t like how they single you out and pull you to the side. This is in stark contrast to our experience at Universal and in the States Disney parks and cruise line. I’m sure it has much to do with the fact this park is not owned by Disney. The Japanese in general don’t seem to really cater to allergies at all (probably part of their culture of there is no individualization like you can’t say I want the sandwich without mayo).

So if you are allergic to things table service has slightly more options and bring your own snacks in case.
