We woke up to a beautiful morning. The sun was shining and we could watch the Friendship boats from our window. We had LL booked for Magic Kingdom so that was our first stop. We caught a bus as soon as we walked out of the hotel and were at MK a little later. We had pre-booked LL for Tiana, Buzz, Pirates and purchased Seven Dwarfs so our agenda was pretty similar to the previous visit.
We headed straight for Tomorrowland and had a nice breakfast at the Lunching Pad. They have delicious breakfast bowls or bubble bread and you can get the sweet cream cheese filled pretzel even early in the day. We enjoyed another ride on the People Mover and headed for Buzz. We skipped Laugh Floor, but it was hard to walk by without going in! However that decision meant we lucked into seeing the Dapper Dans
Heading over to Adventureland we spotted a posted 20 minute wait for Jungle Cruise so we got in line. It was hot and the line moved slowly. It ended up being closer to a 35 minute wait. When we got the the front the Cast Member loading the boats was just plain surly. She was probably as sick of the heat and crowds as we were. Just before we boarded they announced over the speaker that for people waiting in line it was now a 45 minute wait. It’s a cute, hokey ride and our skipper was funny, but I’ve done it so many times I really don’t think it’s worth more than a 20 minute wait. Our kids liked it when they were little so maybe that’s the appeal.
Then we were off to use more LLs. We had LL for Pirates & Tiana and an ILL for Seven Dwarfs. We hopped on to Pirates since it had a posted 15 minute wait. We knew with LL we’d probably wait about 5-10 minutes.
Unfortunately the extended wait for Jungle Cruise meant we were running late. We didn’t know if there was a grace period for the Seven Dwarfs ILL so we headed there when we were done. Even with the LL there was a long wait for the ride. We got off well after the grace period ended for Tiana so we hustled over there hoping we’d be let on. In this case the cast members were absolutely lovely and let us in. On the first evening we had the front rows of the boats on both Pirates of the Caribbean and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This time we had the last rows on both. It doesn’t change the ride - just the photos
We were delighted to stumbled across live performers when we got off Tiana.
We grabbed lunch at Pecos Bills. It’s still nice but I’m not a huge fan of the new menu. All of the meat in tho tex-mex offerings is smoked now. It’s definitely veering more Tex than Mex nowadays. After lunch we went back to the hotel for a rest and a swim. That evening, our last night, we went back to Hollywood Studios. We hoped we could catch Fantasmic again if the rain held off.
I’d been able to book LL for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railroad, Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania as we used up our Magic Kingdom Lightning Lanes. I never spent more than a minute or two looking for lightning lanes, and only when we had downtime, waiting in a line or for our food to be prepared.
We had a short wait to get on to Mickey & Minnie then had a nice casual dinner at Backlot Express. As a person who’s done props for a number of community theatre shows I love the setting. It’s so fun to look at all of the props - some from actual movies! They’ve done a great job theming the restaurant with various sections for actual backstage jobs like scenery, paint and props. And the food is pretty good, too, as long as you’re in the mood for a burger or a sandwich. The portions are generous and we always split a Wookie Cookie for dessert.
After dinner, Kevin & Dani went on Star Tours. I’m not a fan since it makes me a little motion sick. After my Guardians experience I wasn’t feeling brave! I sat outside Backlot in a nice shaded area with comfortable seats and played with the LL app. I scored us ILLs for Rise of the Resistance about half an hour later! Sure, it was the second time I’d had to pay for the ride, but at least we were all feeling well enough to get on it. They were so surprised and happy when they got off Star Tours and I showed them! (I’m never really sure I’ve got the photos in the right order so I apologize if they’re not in line with the narrative. )
Rise was unbelievable! I love it and Flight of Passage equally, but this lasts longer so it feels like you get good value of course, it was a pouring when we exited the ride! So we poncho-ed up and headed for Toy Story land. None of us felt like Swirling Saucers in the rain so I deleted our LL and we went to Toy Story.
The rain had let up a little by the time we were done with the ride. We debated heading over to Fantasmic, but no one was sure if it would run. We just weren’t in the mood to sit in the rain for an hour hoping. We headed in that direction, still debating, when we ran into the sweetest Photopass Photographer. Then we watched the wonderful projection show on the Chinese Theatre and headed to the hotel.
