July. Last half day trip report

So we only had a partial day on our last day. A lot of people ask why we go to the parks instead of Disney Springs. Simple: the difference between a 5 day ticket and a 4 day ticket is $10 per adult. Even when you add in the cost of LL I it comes to about $100 for the three of us. I’d rather spend the day at a park than spending money shopping, but that’s me.

Our plan was to store the luggage with Bell Services and spend the morning at Hollywood Studios, but we’d had such a wonderful last night we didn’t want to ruin the memories so we made a last minute switch to EPCOT. (Staying at the Swan those are the closest parks.) Both previous visits to EPCOT had ended badly so we decided to give it one more chance.

It was a good decision. We walked over to Boardwalk Deli for breakfast. While we were eating I cancelled our Hollywood Studios Lightning Lanes and looked for some at EPCOT. I found Soarin, Figment & Spaceship Earth for the morning. Then we hopped on a boat to EPCOT. We walked in with no hard and fast plans since we’d already done those rides twice.

It was relaxing, probably a lesson on how I should approach future trips. As a family we don’t do well with early mornings, dining reservations or firm schedules when we’re on vacation. We prefer to take things easy and be flexible, able to change or make plans based on how we’re feeling at any given moment.

Dani loves Figment. Probably nostalgia from coming here twice a year as a kid. So after Soarin’ we went on Figment. We hung around and played in the play area - even had a meet & greet with Figment! Dani bought a shoulder sitter Figment and we strolled around some more. While she was playing i scored a LL for Frozen! The one Tier 1 ride in Epcot we hadn’t gotten to ride.

We got lunch at La Cantina de San Angel, watched a variety of performers around the World Showcase , rode Frozen and finished with ice cream from Les Artisans de Glaces in France before heading back to the hotel to retrieve our luggage. And stumbled upon another rare character meet near International Gateway - Cinderella’s evil step sisters. They were so, so funny😊!

Now the flight home was another story entirely! There were storms, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was not one, but two JetBlue planes with mechanical issues, resulting in us arriving home 7 hours late at 3:00 AM.

So, like all vacations, there were good moments and bad moments. Overall the good outweighed the bad and I’m sure we’ll be heading back to Disney World again… in a few years when the vivid memories of the nausea induced by Guardians and the nightmare return flight fade
