I had originally planned on July 1-3, because my place of business was supposed to shut down for the week while the owners were on vacation. But literally the day before they left, they changed their minds and said we’d stay open while we were gone. So i changed my reservation to fit my existing schedule, since it was a guarantee we’d be closed for the Fourth and i could sleep in
I had always envisioned my first true solo outing to be spent at Ft. Wilderness. But i wasnt going to subject myself to that in the Florida summer’s heat and humidity. If it had been spring or fall, no problem. Even winter, when I’d have an excuse to start a fire. So i went with the next cheapest option, and stayed at All Star Music. Last time i was there, i was in the Broadway building; this time it was Jazz. Considering the persistent thunderstorms, i think i made the right choice getting a room.
I took advantage of the free waterpark admission and spent the afternoon at Blizzard Beach. Good decision. So many curvy foreign women, not to mention hot moms with a few extra pounds ![]()

i only stayed a couple of hours, but before i got on the buses i played a round at Winter Summerland (winter course). Finished five under par. Special thanks to the family with two small kids that let me play through. Later that evening, i got a Stitch pride plushie to be my travel buddy.
The next morning, i walked through the gates of Magic Kingdom at EXACTLY 8:30 for early admission… and somehow, Seven Dwarfs already had an hour+ long wait time. Well i figured that would negate any advantage i could take of EA, so i did Buzz Lightyear instead. A walk on. Afterwards, i had enough time left to perfctly position myself to ropedrop Liberty Square and be among the first people on Tiana’s. Not exactly a walk on, but still better than anything else I’d get later.
I met the elegant Captain Hook (and Mister Smee). Was there when Anastasia and Drizelda boarded the Regal Carrousel – still havent gotten a chance to tell them they’re beautiful.
My best experience in line was on Space Mountain, where i was just ahead of a mom with her young son, a first timer. He was amazed by the spaceport “windows”, and i helped her answer some of his questions (like no, this has nothing to do with Star Wars). We were on different trams, but i felt obligated to wait around to see how he liked it. Brave kid loved it and wanted to go again.
Ordinarily i like to do lunch at Columbia Harbour House, and dinner at The Plaza. This time i decided to mix it up and have an extended lunch break at Tony’s Town Square. I was early for my reservation, so i had time to meet Mickey next door. Family ahead of me had four little kids (two boys, two girls) two of whom were just toddlers. The youngest girl was afraid of Mickey, but he (and her siblings) did there best to make her feel comfortable.
I took two separate trips to Tom Sawyer Island. Only on the second one did i visit Ft Langhorn. Special shoutout to all the cast members who entertained everyone’s questions all day about whats going to happen next (and for listening to one guy who told you everything wrong with Imagineering and what they should be doing instead). I did not, however, get a chance to ride the Liberty Belle, as when it came time they shut down due to lightning. So instead i just ate a fanta slushie under the pavilion, admiring the beauty that woule soon be destroyed.
The late afternoon deluge through some of my plans for a loop, but nothing i couldnt adjust for. When the sky first opened up, i sought refuge at Aloha Isle and had myself a Dole Whip soft serve. When the Enchanted Tiki Room let out, i relocated and took advantage of the darkness to change out of my wet shirt and socks.
When the fireworks started, i was not only able to walk directly on to Pirates, but i had the boat entirely to myself! And i nearly had a boat to myself on the Jungle Cruise myself. In fact, i think the longest i waited all day was just over 20 minutes for Peter Pan, and that pails in comparison to what ive had to endure in the past!
Even with the on and off rain, it was a great day with almost no hiccups. The only delays i experienced was the WDW Railroad and the Carousel of Progress both breaking down while i was on them. Got stuck at the Main Street station, and had to expereince the post WWII scene twice
