It’s official, DD will be 13 and I are going to universal January. We’ll be there Jan 18, 19, 20 (Sunday, Monday which is MLK, and Tuesday). We did the 3 day park to park and bought EPs. For some reason the dynamic prices for EP was quite low. Staying at Cabana bay (first time at a universal hotel). I feel like we’re going in blind given the new dynamics with the park hopping options but am hopeful the EPs will make everything dandy. I’m thinking one day at Epic, one day at all 3, and one day to hit our favs or however. I figure the 3 days gives us wiggle room if weather or ride closures are a problem. It really feels like it could be great or literally all the people who bought tickets to all 3 parks are just gonna go to epic. I did see language about epic might close if it reaches capacity. But again, who knows what will actually happen. Any thoughts or advice? Besides giving TP money because they are amazing and do the Lords work would it make any sense to try and make a TP with EPs?
I am becoming more optimistic about Epic EP as I’m seeing wait times are much better over the last week. I’ve also very specifically sought out YT videos with EP (posted within the last two months) and they have had great results. It is a holiday weekend, but certainly not the most crowded one. I have no real advice. I’m right there with you, more questions than anything. Are you interested in meeting toothless? That might be a priority to look at.
I hope thats still the case in January! I’m mixed on toothless. Historically we are ride people but everytime we’ve done something outside that like Country Bears or meetings we’ve always really enjoyed it. I can’t see waiting a long time for it. I’ve seen some recommendations to rope drop that since it’s not EP eligible.
We’ll be there in the first part of January. I think it is in the long Epic planning thread, a chart of wait times by time of day. It starts low and peaks lunch-ish (by memory), with afternoons still pretty high.
You’d think it would have been high at open and then drifted down as people got pooped. But, then I’d have never thought people would be late to a private park tour, and apparently that isn’t that unusual. People have trouble waking up.
Because of that chart, if we plan on spending any time at Epic on that day, we’ll be there at open. (We don’t have EA) That will work too with capacity issues. We’ll be in first.
I personally prefer the idea of them closing due to capacity than park reservations.
