It's official

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has granted UDX permission to begin construction on Universal Studios Britain!

This was published on Alicia Stella’s blog earlier this year. It is purely speculative, but I put more faith in her guesses than most other people’s “facts”

I’d like Lord of the Rings and Jaws in Orlando.

I posted the press release from the UK government over in the Universal News thread when it was released. So excited!

I know a lot of people want these “nostalgic” Universal lands. However, IMHO, if a movie that’s more than 20 years old isn’t still making sequels isn’t going into these park.

No Bttf, Jaws, or LotR.

The 007 licenses are a complete mess with Ian Fleming’s family selling it in pieces to multiple companies. Universal isn’t going to touch it.

Personally, I LOVE all things Jurassic Park/World. That last movie was absolute trash and a bomb. I will wager it was the death of the franchise.

Yes please to LOTR in particular. The rumors have gone on far too long. Make it happen Uni. Best story of all time.

But there is tv show for LOTR that’s recent. That counts right?!? Pretty please.

You’re right! I’m not a LotR fan at all. I actually loathe it…. :shark:

I’ve been referred to as a “hobbit” to many times and hate it!! :shark:

Plus, there are so many plot holes in that story and I still barely understand what magic powers The Ring has. It’s been explained to me like 20 times & it still makes no sense!

Plus, the rights to it are another one of those crazy issues where multiple corporations and the family still own pieces of it.

LOTR probably could work as the fifth portal at Epic… but because of Tolkien’s massive status in British literature, I think they’re saving it for England (no official name yet)

I think we’re going to get a successor to Jaws in Darkmoor. Mack’s new “rocking boat” ride system is perfect for the Creature from the Black Lagoon

Well, my reasoning was if it’s not specifically Orlando, WDW, or Anaheim, this is the forum for it

Tolkien more or less invented the High Fantasy genre

Technically correct

But I don’t know one Tolkien fan who actually liked “Rings of Power”

I would call myself both but I would greatly prefer Silmarillion prequels. Some movie/tv studio needs to buy the rights to it cuz that’s where the money is. And I wouldn’t say Rings of Power is the same level as LOTR film series or my favorite tv series like battle star galáctica but I enjoyed it.

Sounds more like you just have bad taste

This is probably the best channel on the Tolkien Legendarium

“Stories of the Ring” is another good channel

This was soooo good to listen to, and to watch. More than 50 years ago, I discovered LOTR in the high school library. For a few years, I loved to re-read the trilogy. I have (and have read) the Silmarillion, but it’s been a few decades. Maybe it’s time to delve back into the books. This video was a delight to listen to, to hear the names spoken out loud.

On a side note, I just realized that the name Barad-dur is so similar to the name of one of our college professors, Bahadur.

Thank you for linking this video.

It’s just a generic high fantasy series. If it wasn’t nominally trying to pass itself off as Tolkien, it would probably be better received
