Right now, we plan to do, on August 3, AK in the morning, and EP in the evening. (EP has EEH). Then, on August 5, we plan to do HS in the morning, and MK in the evening. (MK has EEH.)
But the CLs have been updated and now I’m rethinking my life choices. Or last my park day choices.
Do you think it is worth upsetting our plans to swap our AK and HS days in order to take advantage of the 3 instead of 6? (I will have to swap ADRs as well.)
Of the two rides we care about from that list, we would save about 30 minutes based on that difference. With only a planned 3-4 hours in the park, that’s not insignificant.
On the other hand, of those two rides, the queue is inside, where we are escaping the heat longer if we wait in a longer line!
I had the same plan for 8/3 but will probably switch to HS that day. I didn’t have any ADRs or other firm plans it would affect since my DDs nixed the WAT I had booked (will try another trip when it’s not blazing hot). You’ve caused me to take the time to evaluate the revised crowd levels and wow have they dropped for early August at HS and Epcot, for many days! All days look good for HS except the 5-7th. Looks like AK is where crowds are worst, probably due to low number of attractions. Since I don’t think we’ll be rope-dropping much, we may just try to hit AK late in the day once or twice. Lower crowd levels are making me think maybe we won’t need LL very much which would be nice.
Agree – with one caveat: if the CL is due to a party day at MK, it definitely makes sense to switch your MK visit to a day with a party. MK crowds are SO much lower on party days.
The reason I would not bank on this is that without full visibility into why one park is showing a higher CL vs. another park (where you would presumably also be banking lower wait times if it is a resort-wide trend), the change could be the result of statistical noise, and any savings could be offset by other random events that you cannot predict and therefore are unable to avoid by switching days.
e.g., A thunderstorm, a ride breakdown, or the arrival of a large tour group at an attraction you are about to ride are more likely to impact your wait vs. the CL.
I don’t agree with this at HS. If you were planning to purchase LLMP for HS on a CL6, I would still purchase LLMP for a CL3. If this were switching from a non-party MK day to a party MK day, then I’d say maybe you could skip the MK LLs, but HS headliners are likely going to have long lines either way.
August has tended to be relatively light, so honestly I think you will be in good shape. I imagine this year they will be golden since there were no major attractions added, and all the refurbed attractions opened in late May, so the novelty will have worn off.
That said, I agree with @davej that HS is a good candidate for LLMP at any crowd level, though it’s doable without if you’re on a tight budget.
Yes I agree, normally I would always get LL for HS. This time, we have a much longer than usual trip so we will have the luxury of time. Might get LL one day for HS and not others. Looking forward to the possibility even of “bus roulette” some days!
