I have an existing res at BLT (cash through WDW website, not DVC) for 4 nights.
I would like to remove the first night so the res would only be for the last 3 of the current 4 nights. I checked MDE and there are no more rooms available in this room category for those days so I can’t book a new 3 day res and then cancel the existing 4 day res. Is there a way to modify the existing res from 4 nights to 3 nights in this situation?
Tagging @OBNurseNH because she tends to know this stuff and tagging @profgrumpy because he seems to switch itineraries often, but I welcome input from anyone.
Have you checked your reservation on MDE for a “modify reservation link”? In the past I have shortened a reservation, but that was pre-MDE and I had to do it over the phone.
Otherwise I would recommend calling guest services. If I’m understanding your question correctly it should be quite easy to do
The caveat may be if you’ve taken advantage of any discounts with your original booking. If the booking period for such discounts has closed, or if by modifying to the shorter trip you no longer meet the criteria of the offer, it may prove more challenging.
I modify my reservations frequently online. If you go into “my plans” on the website, not MDE, you should have the option to choose “change reservation”. Once in there you will see all.of your details with an option to “change” next to each one. Once you choose the new dates it will give you the pricing for the reduced stay and you should just be able to modify. If that doesn’t worn for some reason, then you have to call.
Sometimes when I modify on my phone (like recently I was trying to switch from Yacht Club to Beach Club) it short circuits out and brings me back to my plans. At that point I use a computer.
