I would actually say a regular room in ASSports is equivalent to a preferred room at ASMu due to the layout of ASMu, which is elongated making a preferred room more necessary to have a reasonable walk to transportation.
In your situation (which is the reverse of that comparison) I would either stick with ASSports Preferred or switch to ASSports regular if you want to save money and there are regular rooms available.

They didn’t offer regular ASSports.
I think I’m going to go with Sports preferred for all the reasons stated in the thread and since I have yet to hear a reason Music standard is better (other than saving $25 a day).

I would go with Sports as well. Music is a giant resort and the standard rooms are far from everything. Though for that many days the family suites at Music would win for me. But we are a family that hates to share beds and also wants 2 full bathrooms if there are more than 2 of us. (Spoiled, I know). The kids and I struggled at Pixar Place recently with only 1 bathroom and all 3 of us wanting to shower and make it to early entry on time.

I know. Me too.
DH would prefer a rental house, but I want early entry.
DH is even cheaper than I am. He can’t wrap his mind around any hotel being more than $100 a night. Really. I don’t think we’ve ever paid more than $200 til this year (on a single room).

I’d be scared to stay in a hotel that was less than $100 a night

Hahahahahah
Thankfully with Priceline I do get a lot in the less than $150 range. But the less than $100 is definitely scary.

My only caution there is what happens if there is not a room in Building 1 available?

Me too!
If it’s a brand I trust and it’s on sale, maybe. But generally if I’m on a budget I’m still looking in the $150-200 range.
Except for a two-bedroom hotel last October in Dollywood, I’ve been able to get brand names stays on Priceline for less than $150, consistently. And they normally included breakfast and free parking. But we are talking about Dollywood area, Daytona Beach, West Virginia, Western NY and Disney area. I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to say that in Miami, or DC, etc.

I usually have to get a room that sleeps six - usually two beds and a couch bed - so that probably accounts for the difference.

6, 7, & 10 aren’t too awful either though.
6 would be the worst for parking.

Yes. Back when we did our travels with 8-9, we had to double that threshold bc we needed either two rooms or a suite.
I was a big fan of the Homewood Suites and Residence Inns in those days. And it’s been 6 years since we needed that kind of stay. Now that most of mine are adults, I just get two rooms and don’t worry about location.

I would be hard pressed to do standard music ever again after last week. We were almost in GA…

At least you were well aware going into it that walking is a downside to ASMusic Standard.

Exactly. I knew what to expect.
