Probably for the best.
it was a good introduction to inversions because it was over in a flash. But actually I think Incredicoaster is much less intimidating and my kids loved it.
I’m doing my best to keep my dates as is, but already feeling like I either need to leave on Sunday or come back home on a Sunday!
Thankfully, it’s even slower at the office this week. I’ll have plenty of time to daydream and plan over & over again!

I feel like I’m forcing myself to park hop!
My plans have me leaving each park just “because I paid for it”.
How crazy would it be to not to park hop? In my plans I feel like I’m switching parks for no reason. I’m supposed to be going at a low crowd time and mid-week. My “need” to change parks shouldn’t be too great based on crowds.
EDIT - I have added the fourth day! There was a sale on flights that caused the change to be $0 instead of $289. I’ve spent $375 more on hotel and tickets. I can save $100 by not park hopping though… ![]()
I figured that this really will be my “once in a lifetime” trip. I’m not gonna let $500 be the reason I don’t ensure I do everything I want!
Tab and I did not park hop and it was fine.
We did have hoppers in 2018, and only hopped one day of our four day tickets, I believe. And that was only because we wanted to catch an afternoon show they only had on weekends.
This is what I’m finding too…
I’ll be making a plan and then go, “Well it’s after 1pm. I guess I should switch parks??”
Plus, Disneyland closes early on one of my nights. I’d rather just stay at DCA all day.
I’m thinkiing…
Tues - DCA (Disneyland closes early)
Wed. - Disneyland
Thurs. - Disneyland
Sat. - DCA
Friday is a Grad Night, so I’m going to Knott’s for sure…
If I go to Disneyland during the mid-week, with LLMP, I should be able to see it all. It just feels “odd” to end my trip at DCA…

I have a Noon flight leaving on Sunday. I will have time to have breakfast somewhere… Maybe one of the hotels??? Thoughts??
I would do Disneyland on Saturday, personally. A) Crowds might actually be lower on the weekend due to block-outs for lower tier MK’s. And B) fireworks might not be shown mid-week. I know you said the fireworks aren’t a big thing for you and you don’t want to camp out, but during Season of the Force, they do fireworks in Galaxy’s Edge which are really cool and not that crowded. By contrast DCA should have WoC every night.
I haven’t been to Disneyland on a Saturday in a very long time (block-outs), but even Sundays feel less crowded than weekdays. Counter-intuitive, I know.
The character breakfast buffet at Storyteller’s Cafe (Grand Cal) is wonderful but pricey. We’ve also had breakfast by the pool at the Craftsman Bar which is separate from the QS Craftsman Grill but also at Grand Cal. There’s also the Great Maple at Pixar Place but I have been less than impressed by their food. DD has been changing so much I don’t even know what’s there anymore for breakfast!
This is why I kept my park hopper tickets! I can’t decide on anything! ![]()
Do you know if Tangaroa Terrace still has the big French toast?
I think so, yes. Although, I just checked and I don’t see it.
So so so so happy to see this! I think for you Knott’s will be just as fun as DLR, so adding a day to not have to sacrifice it but still have the time you need for DLR is the perfect solution.
You can always, always, always not get the hoppers and then if you really do want the flexibility once on the ground, add it on at the ticket booths outside the parks. For me personally, I just cannot even fathom it even if I do spend the 12/14 hours of one day in one park for reasons: 1) I usually almost always want to eat at least one meal of our park meals at DCA over anything at DL or outside the parks and 2) Most of the time DCA is the one closing early and the time to hop over to DL at the end of the night, even if just a few rides and then Main St. ambiance as I slowly leave in the hour it’s open after park close (with hot cocoa or churros or popcorn or ice cream depending on the weather) is some of my most favorite time in the DL. But I get the savings, and the price it is now to hop, I would probably very much consider it depending on what other things I want to include in the budget.
Just making sure that you know now the hopping was moved from after 1pm to now after 11am. [If 1pm was a random time you threw out and not because you had 1pm as the time to switch in your planning notes, disregard this paragraph completely].
That’s wise! I’d also probably avoid DCA the day after though as many people who will have avoided it as well on Friday will be there Saturday to “catch-up” on missing it the day before. Also, I agree with @Julianne_fki about both the below!
Carnation Cafe is the one TS place we hit every trip. If you time it right you can watch some of the day time parade go by (the top half
) while eating.
We always park hop because we always get LLMP and want to maximize the LLMP rides we can go on (we’ve done up to 14 in 1 day before). If you aren’t getting LLMP, then it isn’t crazy to not park hop. Last day you might want to add it so you can hit all the highlights of both parks one last time.
Ghost Rider is the one ride that gets insane wait times at Knott’s. Ride first thing and re-ride right away if you want to ride in more than once in the day. The Log flume can be a long wait as well in the middle of the day, but not as bad as GR.
Thanks! This is stuff I really need to know! I’ve got a good idea about DLR, but first hand Knott’s info is harder to find!
Fresh Baked just did a video about Knott’s. He’s got some older videos as well.
I want to ride the DLR Railroad since it’s got the little vignettes / panoramas / show scenes. Are they during the entire route or just at certain sections. I don’t mind riding the entire loop if there’s stuff to see.
Also, thoughts on the monorail as a ride? I’ve been on the WDW enough times that it’s just a mode of transit more than an attraction (and we have a small one here in Memphis too! It’s “inverted” and the rail is above you. As seen in the movie “The Firm” with Tom Cruise)
Only during the section from Tomorrowland to Main Street.
My favorite portion of the ride is actually between New Orleans Square and Toontown, because you ride next to the waterfalls that separate Galaxy’s Edge from Rivers of America. So beautiful. ![]()
I love it. I try to go once per trip. If you ride in the late afternoon (if it’s not too hot for them to close it down), there is usually no line and you can just stay on and do a round trip.
This is where the biggest one is with the Grand Canyon that then transitions to Dino’s and well worth that one bare minimum leg.
You do also have a peek into Tiana’s Bayou when riding between New Orleans & Toontown Station. I’ve not done it seen it since the ride changed over from Splash to Tiana’s but apparently the view that you used to see into the final scene of Splash has been made smaller & has more obstructions with Tiana’s so it might not be one to must-see, but it is there.
Hands down the best leg! I agree! And I love passing by the walkway in (what used to be Critter Country & is now) Bayou Country and then past the Hungry Bear. When it’s busy you’ll usually get some wavers. And the best is when the Mark Twain, or SS Columbia is also passing along the back area of the River, the train & boat and people at Hungry Bear all waving to each other is a cool moment for me.
And then from Toontown to Tomorrowland is fun too because you wave to people walking into Toontown and then ride “through” the it’s a small world facade and can maybe get people from the boats or last part of the line to wave as you pass through and you can see the backside of the doors where the parade opens up and we’ve caught it once where a cavalcade was waiting/setting up and we got to wave to all the performers and characters just before they were set to step out.
So while Tomorrowland to Main Street is bare minimum, I always prefer to do at New Orleans to Main Street. And then because I’ve never enjoyed having to finagle through the crowds to the New Orleans Station and because there’s usually so few people leaving at New Orleans (so not as many people can get on at this station), we just always go the full loop starting and ending at Main St.
I love the train! A full trip around is always in order. All social media pages I’ve seen have a March reopening.
Great! My dates are May 5 - 11… I’m finding it frustrating that there’s so little info about entertainment in the Avengers Campus. I’m not a giant Marvel fan, but wanted to see the Spider-Man Stuntronic or Dr. Strange…
