They still do that, my SIL lives on Kauai. They ask you where you are staying upon arrival at the airport and keep watch to make sure you do quarantine for 14 days.

My dad lives in France and he told me yesterday France is tightening their regulations about Covid again and by October they are expecting to be confined to their local areas again
