I don’t have a catchy title trip report. Barbosa’s back in 2025

Day 1: Guess whose back, back again… slim shady would be cooler, but in fact it’s just us the Barbosa family. Here to leave our trip musings in the land of the touring plans forum. Feel free to scroll on by, but this has truly become a part of the catharsis for my Disney blues that allows me to move on to planning the next trip. I also save these in my records to read for memories and for planning the next trip. If you’re along for the ride, thanks for joining.

This year we traveled in a group of 6. As always, there’s my core family-my husband Josias (46), me (36), my stepdaughter Ingrid (21), Katie (7), and Emma (4). My mom 67 also joined us this trip. All of my girls have the Disney bug (wonder where they got that from) so everyone was excited.

We went Tuesday to Tuesday second week of August. We usually like to be in Disney on the 13th for our anniversary but had to go a little earlier because of Ingrid’s college move-in date. We know that next year we aren’t planning to bring her to give her a few months to hopefully settle into a big girl job, but we’re already talking about her maybe joining us for the weekend then. We were bummed the Halloween party was starting later this year, but got over it when we realized we’d get to see Starlight.

Anyway… our flight was at 7am. No matter how early I went to bed or tried to sleep it was useless. I probably clocked 3 hours before it was time to get up (3:30am) and hit the road. Providence is always a breeze to fly and while I’ve heard people say that parking has gone up I think I’ve paid the same by pre-ordering online. 100 dollars for a week feels like a deal to me still. My husband and I are both nervous fliers. I am from having grown up in 9/11 days and a few bad flights during storms into FL. My husband just watches the news too much. But I’m happy to say that after this trip I can almost say flying feels more normal again. Maybe we’ve just had a few good, no crazy turbulence flights, and maybe I’m chilling out a little more as I get older, but I almost enjoyed the flight, despite still hating take off. Airport was smooth, my mom met us there and family boarding got us decent seats mid plane. The girls were good about quietly playing and snacking and overall, I was as content as can be. I always bring a Frieda McFadden book because the fast pace makes it easy to get distracted. I’m still ancient in the sense that I don’t trust using a phone on a plane, so I turn mine off completely. Our flight was full, but we noticed on both flights that there were less kids than usual.
So we touch down and headed towards the first magical ride—the mini monorail. My girls imitate my love of palm trees so we had to hug some in the airport. Then when heading to pick up bags, our stroller was missing. They told us to get it in oversized but it never came through. After an hour of waiting in the office it finally showed up. We realized it was definitely a mistake not to bring it all the way to the plane. So now everyone is hungry and tired and we head down to MEARs and the lines are massive. This could have been okay if they had regular busses. Apparently it was a day where a bus would show up every hour. We couldn’t get over how badly they messed things up, we’ve always walked on or had short waits in the past. This felt like they way oversold what they had the ability to do. Not a good look. We almost called an uber but we had too many people and bags. Next trip we’ll finally pick something else to use. Even once we were on the bus it took us 40 minutes to leave. I didn’t let this stop me from leading the cheering and yelling as we went under the Disney World sign. But I think the clapping was louder when we got to Pop. We stayed at Carib Beach last year because it was just 5 of us, but this year we did 2 rooms at Pop. We love both and they feel like home, so once we arrived things got better. Front desk helped link our magic bands and with our room not being ready we dropped off our bags. I was impressed when they said they would deliver both bags and groceries as soon as our room was assigned. Garden grocer was supposed to deliver alcohol but they won’t drop it off anymore and couldn’t come when we were at the hotel so we canceled the alcohol. Not sure what happened with them but we were not impressed this year.

Once we freed ourselves from the bags we walked to the Skyliner to go over to the Riviera for lunch. We didn’t grab our resort mugs because we were headed to the water park after and didn’t want to carry the cups around. We love the Skyliner and did a mobile order. Chicken sandwich was still good, love the garlic. Ingrid’s croque was excellent and generally their QS is just yummy. Then we walked over to the busses to go to Typhoon Lagoon.
I’ve only been to Typhoon once in 2014 but the free entry meant it was worth trying. The girls were excited for it. We had to change at the park, which is kind of icky but oh well. Lockers were small but not ghastly expensive. Our only plan for here, knowing we had limited time and definitely lost 2 hours between missed stroller and MEARs was Miss Adventure Falls, lazy River and anything else being bonus. I love the tropical vibe here but I get a little germaphobic about water parks. Being outside in Florida sun makes it easier, unlike places like GWL. We headed to Miss Adventure falls. I was nervous that the girls would not get on it. I should preface by saying that Katie gets DAS and really struggles with thinking she’s in danger when she’s not—since she was little it was harder to get her to do things at the playground, etc. We’ve come a long way and she does therapy that really helps, but I still get a pit in my stomach trying something new or even something she’s done, wondering will she last minute freak out and try to run. Amazingly neither of the girls did. Emma cried a little at the top of the hill, but loved it. Katie also loved it. Our first big success with getting her to try something new! So naturally we had to go back and do it two more times. Then we headed to the lazy river and I remember really liking this—and it holds up. I laughed and smiled through the water fall sections and loved seeing the dreamy tropical plants and palm trees. We did the whole circle and I could’ve just stayed there, but I could tell it was not my mom’s thing. Balancing everyone’s needs this trip was tricky, but I can pull off anything in Florida sunshine. So we got off and I told J (Josias I call him J all the time) that I was good and anything else was bonus and we could leave any time. The girls wanted to go to the other family raft ride so we walked the length of the park to get there. It was fun, but I was kind of over it, just based on being tired. We would’ve liked walking around the park more but it’s hard to summon energy on a low sleep travel day (we had already clocked 20k steps). It definitely would be better on a break day. So off we headed to do the awkward wet/sticky change back into clothes and hop a bus to Disney springs. As we left we saw people coming in for the night event, which I think would be dreamy without the hot sun and the tropical feel.

We hopped the bus to Dis Springs as we had a 6pm dinner reservation at T-Rex. This was one I was going to pay out of pocket for and the rest were covered by the dining plan. Emma requested it and I have a soft spot for my kids whims. We’re also lifetime fans of Rainforest Cafe so we like the vibes. I will say we went to a RC in Niagara Falls last Oct and it was awful. It was like post apocalypse temu RC. But we’ve done T Rex once before and it was pretty great, so we were happy to go back. We breezed through a few stores, but were generally tired so headed to the restaurant. We were early by like an hour, but I was hoping they could move us a little earlier. They didn’t lol. So we stood tired in the gift store entrance for an hour avoiding the downpours. Once we finally sat, it was a great time. We ate our weight in chips and queso. I walked around with the girls to see all the Dinos. Our server was fantastic, she must have brought us 3 refills of chips. J had great fish and chips, my ceasar salad was a let down, and the kids meals were good. This taught me to generally avoid ceasar salad in Disney, they just don’t get it right. We headed out and the rain wasn’t too bad and grabbed a bus back to Pop which was fairly quick. Leaving was awesome as there were full lightning bolts above the RC volcano which looked cool and I loved the sparkling palm trees. The girls and I threw coins in the fountain to make wishes and I wished I had time to come back later for nighttime vibes.
I had called Pop earlier and got us moved from 80s to 50s—big win! We stopped at luggage and they let us know our bags were already up in our room and then came with our groceries. We grabbed resort mugs and went to get the kids showered and unpack. I love using the shoe caddy to organize toiletries and the room was fine. Ingrid bunked with my mom in the adjoining room. They started the nightly/daily ritual of asking me ten thousand times what time they had to get up, where we were going etc etc. I realized I really don’t like telling adults what to do on top of my little kids and that next time I’m managing this many adults I’m printing out an itinerary for them to check. The kids discovered the story time cartoons that they watched all trip especially the Cars one, before passing out. Overall a successful yet tiring first day. Back in the best place ever.

Day 2–first park day—Hollywood Studios

Everyone got up and ready on time to rope drop HS. This is our least favorite park so we always do it first. It’s our least favorite because we have to do the most rider swapping and we think it needs more variety. But we enjoy it. We left the stroller behind because we planned a pool break so we figured Emma would make it through the morning. Off we went to the Skyliner which already had a long line at Pop, but moves quickly once they start it. I was strategic with our park plans this trip using individual lightning lanes for rides I was sure Katie wouldn’t do and picking the important ones for her to DAS. We got into the park easily and went straight to Toy Story land. Having learned from previous trips we didn’t want be in that area or Star Wars in the heat of the day. We walked right into TSM and they started the ride around 8:20-8:30. Then we went to Aliens, which was also no wait. I made a DAS request for Slinky, which both girls had decided they were doing this trip. I then told the girls to pick TSM or Aliens to repeat before Slinky. So we did TSM again. We then headed to Slinky and everyone got into line in good spirits. But I was nervous. This time, it was not smooth. Just as we went to board, Katie melted down and tried to run. This is always hard for us because we don’t force her, but the running we feel like makes us look horrible. J caught her and walked off. A CM tried to talk her into it, but it was a no go. Emma was scared when the ride took off but loved it. When J went back to ride Emma did it again with him. I had to calm Katie down and assure her that she didn’t ruin the trip for everyone and that there would be other opportunities to try new rides. We thought she might do okay on this one because she rode a kids roller coaster at our local amusement park several times. Big hills like Tiana’s we know is a big trigger but curves and mini dips seem okay.
Oh well, we got a lot done anyway. Next was a Joffrey’s stop so we could enjoy coffee and donuts while waiting to see Little Mermaid. We didn’t wait long to get into the show and it was delightful. J thought the special effects weren’t disguised enough but overall it was well done. When we walked outside Donald and Goofy were teaching kids to double Dutch jump rope so the girls went over to play—it felt like such a 90s moment. Processing: IMG_6901.jpeg…
Processing: IMG_6904.jpeg…

Next we headed to Star Tours while waiting for our time to do Rise. Both kids did great on this one—a solid ride for everyone. Next was Rise, which the girls asked to do (Katie went on it two years ago and both have seen videos). As soon as the doors closed during the Rey part we were done for—both started freaking out. So before boarding the ship, J exited with them. Later they told me they were afraid of the bad guys. Ingrid went back to ride with J and I placed a Mobile order so mom and I started heading to abc with the kids. Knowing it takes a little while, I surprised the girls by stopping to see Olaf. We then grabbed our orders and found a table while we waited for J and Ingrid. A CM came around and gave treats and crayons to the kids—so far I was digging the Cool Kids Summer. A bit into the trip we realized our dining credits were broken up by room which was annoying, even though I was paying for both rooms, tickets, etc. I had to log into Ingrid’s account to order food and stuff from those credits. I feel like it’s messy and unnecessary with one traveling party. ABC is consistently good—like the chicken sandwich, Ingrid likes the buff grilled cheese. My mom, J, and Ingrid enjoyed margaritas. I can’t do sugary alcoholic drinks or hard liquor really in general. So I ordered a beer on the meal plan most of the trip and would drink half because it tastes great in Florida heat and let my husband drink the other half. Stopped to do Mickey on our way out for the pool break and hopped the Skyliner to go back to Pop.
On our most recent trips we’ve found we really end up with time to kill at HS so it felt right to schedule a pool break. My mom went to buy postcards and take a rest in the room and J and I took the kids to the pool. They did quick dips in the hippy dippy pool but then we like to stay in the kids splash area—this lets J and I sit while the kids splash endlessly without needing much supervision, plus there’s a private flower shower there. The break felt great. We only stayed at the pool for about 90 mins, but still worth it.
We took some time to get cold drinks and put on fresh clothes then headed back to the park. Emma said no stroller and we happily obliged. We had night time LLs for the adults to Rock and ToT. We also wanted to repeat Mickey. We debated Millenium Falcon but weren’t sure if Emma would freak out. We get drained and burnt out from the last minute run from a ride routine so decided not to try. We are incredibly grateful for DAS though because without it we wouldn’t have been able to get Katie on Star Tours and even some easier rides, and as you’ll hear we had some big successes later in the trip. So for that accommodation for her we are so grateful. So we decided seeing Star tours seemed like a safe win we’d do that again and had fun. The girls know they get one lovey a trip and Katie chose and stuck with Chewbacca. I was happy to get it because it helps in a way making sure she knows that we’re happy with whatever she’ll do with us and feel safe. It felt like good timing because she’d already had two instances where she was excited for rides that she couldn’t get herself over the hump for—it’s a baby steps game and we just have to keep supporting her.
We then headed to our H&V reservation. Food is great here. I did not overeat and sipped sangria and ate peel and eat shrimp and salad to my hearts content. Disney wins this round easily because I just refuse to make myself stuffed. The rest of my family however might’ve won against Disney. Characters are fun, but I almost think we enjoyed the random in the parks interactions more. But H&V is always solid. Got our Fantasmic passes and we were good to go.
We realized riding Rock and Tower right after eating wasn’t ideal but we couldn’t waste our chance. My mom changed her mind about Rock so Ingrid, J and I hopped into the LL debating whether we’d throw up our dinner. We managed to keep our food down and had a blast—was more fun and smooth than years past. Then we lined up for the Villains show which we had not made it to the previous one (surprised how popular). Love that they put real seats in there. Loved the song—so catchy and fun. Good acting. The plot however was wtf. Like they’re villains and this is supposed to be one of the kid friendly attractions so explaining to a 7 year old that we’re voting on which one was merely misunderstood—dog killer, man obsessed with chasing children, or woman who drugged a young girl is a tough ask. I explained that the obvious choice was Hook because Peter Pan never left him alone and then it was Cruella. Such a bizarre plot. Love new shows and ideas, just work on the plot. We then headed to RS ToT for the adults. Wish we had more time to repeat it.
After we hung out a bit and went into Fantasmic. It was raining so we donned ponchos and awaited the decision for the show to happen or not. Luckily it did go and the show was great. Still haven’t caught the dragon in the show the last few years but it’s always super impressive. Easy exit and Skyliner ride—no lines. Overall, a great day.

Oh, yes, I love to re-read my old trip reports! Sometimes I’m surprised by how my opinions change over time. You know, right now I think Oga’s is over-hyped, but I just caught a 2023 section of a trip report where I gushed about how wonderful it all was. Wow! Was that really me? LOL

Totally love this report and plan to keep reading!!!

Day 3-full MK
When we realized the Halloween party was a no go we added a day and just decided on two full MK days. Decided to bring the stroller this day which made J grumbly but I told him we could always leave it somewhere and come back to it. Took in the magic of getting to MK and strolled down MS to get to Tomorrowland. Headed out to RD Space for the adults, easy and fast to RD and RS. J and I went second so Ingrid and my mom would have time to indulge in their Joffreys addiction. Then we hiked across the park to RD Tiana (again for the adults), but it wasn’t open so we waited about 20 mins for the ride to open and then had about a 15 minute wait but also had to rider swap. So it took a long time. Tiana’s is growing on me but I still think the plot is thin and something is always broken on it. Usually we’d wait sitting on the RoA dock but found a shaded bench to the side which was pleasant.

Then we headed to Adventureland. We got to see Capt Jack running around but he didn’t stop for pictures or anything. Then to Pirates. There was no wait, but Katie had a meltdown right as the boat came up. Ran and freaking out. Once half of us road it, J and I took her somewhere quiet to talk. We talked about how she’s been on it since she was a baby, how it’s safe if babies can ride it, and tried to gage what was setting her off. She asked if real pirates would get us and we explained the Disney magic. We talked about how we could use therapy strategies and that this would be a big step for her and we wanted her to do it because she’ll actually love it. We then convinced her to try just with us, her parents, so if she has a hard time it’s less pressure. We knew this could backfire, but we spend a lot of time talking to her therapist about where the healthy push is vs making things worse and this felt right. We let her play games on our phone through the walk to the ride, which was surprisingly really helpful as she’s not allowed to do that at home. As the boat came she didn’t scream or run, but once we sat there were tears and J just held her tight as it took off. The sweetest girl from the UK told her she was afraid before but now loved it, but Katie wasn’t really hearing her. Once we got past the skeleton and “hill,” she was all smiles and so happy she got on. I had to hide my momma tears as it was really quite emotional for me. And of course, we got right back on it. It put us way behind “schedule”but boy did it feel like the biggest win. We then went and did JC and went to grab snacks for Tiki Room. We got the orange dole whip floats, which are heaven on earth and tried the cheeseburger egg rolls (amazing). Dole whip is especially a gift for me because I can’t eat icecream at home (dairy reaction) so a week of frozen treats is awesome. Emma and I LOVE tiki room, which kinda makes everyone else kind of love it. Then we went to sit on a 1000 degree Magic Carpet before moving on to Fantasyland.

We stopped at HM first, which is easy for everyone to get on-thank god and did Small World (also one I love). We decided to try Pinocchio’s because I’ve always wanted to watch the small world boats and write in the wish book. I also really like the music. It was crowded and getting a table is hard. I staked one out and as the people were leaving a random teen pushed me and my kids aside and jumped into one of the seats. I was not impressed and decided to sit with her to see how she responded. She said she was saving it for her family. The parents came around and asked and I told them, but they didn’t care so I walked away. I was frustrated, but I can only control what I can control, so I stood for another 15 minutes for a different table to open up. The food was meh, but so is most MK quick service but we did enjoy waving at the boats. We also wrote down our wishes on the way out. After we headed to PhillarMagic where Katie asked how to catch gems. She was once again in awe that only her parents have the fastest fingers to grab them. Then we went to Mine Train. I was expecting someone to bail but by some miracle of god, both girls got on it happily without any doubts. I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t surprised that they loved it, but I just couldn’t believe they got on—Disney please hide all roller coaster tracks in the future. Next we headed over to Enchanted Tales—no wait which was shocking. I was looking forward to sitting so naturally I was cast a a knight :joy: Katie was Maurice and Emma was silverware. It was great fun despite the complaints from my feet. Then we lucked out that Under the Sea reopened—except nothing worked. Multiple frozen Ariel’s and ride stoppages, it was in eek shape. Then we hopped on a quick Dumbo ride and J took the girls on Barnstormer-also a first. I chose to sit by the train and listen to its spiel which I enjoy.

Somehow, we were kind of back on track to get to our Tron LL. My mom skipped this one and Ingrid and I opted for the bench simply because it’s just so uncomfortable on your legs. I always find the first 10 seconds on the bike fun but then I’m dying to get out of that position. It was good, but we agree it’s a weaker coaster offering, there’s just not enough to it. Then we went into Carousel of Progress—we love this, I always sing along. I noticed it was incredibly musty/moldy in there which was a let down, you just can’t breath great in there. Then we did the PeopleMover—always the best. We had a DAS to use for Pooh before our reservation at Cinderella’s and even squeezed in a ride on the tea cups (crowds were pretty low). Cinderella’s took us right on time-we’ve never done dinner here but opted to use two meal credits. I wasn’t sure if it’d be worth it but I wanted something special in place of the Halloween party. I personally am the opposite of a fancy eater so I had no idea what I would eat. Service was excellent. They let me order an adult portion of the cheese and grapes for my app and I told the server that I liked plain food-chicken or fish. They got me the fish with sauce on the side and it was great. Good call. If I didn’t think too hard about the price it felt quite decadent to sit in a castle eating grapes and cheese and sipping a beer. Kids loved it and all the wands and extras. It is a nice experience in MK-it was also my mom’s first time in the castle (we had done breakfast on a trip she wasn’t on before). They did tell us we could wait for fireworks but we planned to go watch the parade. It was a great time and then we went to do PPF—a real favorite. After, we turned the corner to Liberty Square a to catch the parade. We were behind a few rows of people but could see because the floats were high—it was super cute. Then we were waiting for our last ride on 7D so repeated Small World because the carousel was down. Then we hopped on 7D and got to see fireworks going off as we rode—magical. A quick stop to grab the stroller and pop into emporium for Emma’s lovey (Sorcerer Mickey) and some cool Starlight ears for Katie. We didn’t have a crazy wait for the bus, but all of us had to stand and it was scary trying to make sure Emma didn’t get hurt standing. Overall an amazing MK day with some big hurdles accomplished with the kids.

The one as you head out of TSL? If so, did it take 20-30 minutes to get your coffee? That place is notoriously slow.
Loving your report!

I think we’ve always gone early enough that it wasn’t too backed up. I will say the one near Tower and the one outside AKL have always been the fastest for us. World showcase too. I love Joffrey’s too but I can just do the iced coffee. My mom and Ingrid drink those frozen capucchinos and those would destroy my stomach. Being from Ma, I so wish Joffrey’s was a normal chain like Dunks or Starbucks as I think it’s sooo much better. But then I would be more broke as I’m a make your coffee at home person lol.

I’m cheering on Katie! I’m so glad you had some wins, and let her do only what she’s comfortable with :two_hearts:

Thank you! It’s so tricky. When she was little we at first thought oh she’s just too little, but it’s more complicated. We started therapy because sometimes the anxiety manifests in self-harm like picking at hands, etc. and we just didn’t know how best to handle it. She’s been a sleep walker (nightly) since she was 2 so we think there might be a link where her dreams are so real that certain things trigger her and she can’t totally discern safety. This trip was a really big success for her in slowly getting over some fears, so it was really special.

Day 4 AK/Ep
I did not force the Extra Hour for AK as we’d been going hard core. So we got there about 8 and meandered to Everest. All the adults rode twice. During my wait with the kids, I bought the young girls matching yeti ski school sweatshirts, cute new ears for Ingrid, and J a hat that said are you yeti for this… apparently I’m a sucker for a yeti gift shop. We then chilled and waited for Maharaj to open to see Baso. Sadly no animals were out so we moved on to Kali. Everyone rode Kali (big win!) and then we went off to board the Safari. Once we got to the hippos we stopped and were told a truck broke down ahead. This led to us sitting with the hippos for about 35 minutes. When we finally moved we saw the truck being towed through the Safari (kind of funny). The delay meant we missed LK so we pivoted and opted to do Nemo instead which we haven’t seen in years and the girls have never seen. Such a great move, show was excellent and sitting up front was a treat. Then we did Dino and let’s just say Emma’s not sad it is closing lol. We were now far from Asia so decided to eat in Pandora even though we prefer Yak and Yeti. Bowls were okay, next time I’d opt for noodles over salad. I’d like them much more if the shrimp wasn’t spicy and I don’t love the chicken there. After we did Navi Riv and RS FOP because Emma is too small. Katie loved it which was amazing. We also bought a cute plant in the gift shop. Having done everything we wanted, we headed out and grabbed some frozen lemonades for the bus ride to Epcot.

Once we got to Epcot, J had to Ironman run Emma to the bathroom outside the entrance. Then we went in and rode Spaceship Earth. We were going to do Test Track and Moana next but nature had other plans so off to the Land. We got to do Soarin as a family because Emma is tall enough—woohoo! B1 for the win. After we waited awhile for CMs to get Ingrid’s bag she left it on the ride. At this point Emma and I both have sniffled and no voice but we’re plugging along. I had an anemic episode and almost blacked out on floor of the Soarin bathroom. So I had to sit and drink several fountain waters from Sunshine Seasons. With the storm shutting down most of the rides, we decided to take a break and watch Awesome Planet, which Emma declared was the best (ummm okay). Then we went on my fav —LwtL. Due to my sniffles I couldn’t fully smell the water which was sad but alas. Then we trudged over to Japan for our dinner reservation at Teppan Edo. We’ve never been here and most of my family haven’t done hibachi before. I wasn’t sure how it’d go because we’re wiped and so close to our break day at this point. But… it was amazing. The service was A+ and I made sure to tell them how wonderful they were, which they truly appreciated. The food was right up my alley-grilled, pretty plain, and the yum yum sauce amazing. The kids loved playing with chopsticks and Emma ate her noodles and some chicken. Katie devoured her steak. I loved the noodles and shrimp. Omg so delicious. Our chef was hilarious in a sarcastic way… loved his quips about having to make a Mickey face because it’s in the contract and how he’ll be here all week and the next week and the week after. What a gem. I forgot to mention my strawberry allergy so J just wiped it off my mango cake and we hoped for the best. The cake was light and delicious. Overall the meal was a huge win. We can’t wait to save up and do hibachi at home too. When we left it was downpouring so we poked around the store then poncho’d up and headed for the Skyliner, which thank the lords was running although wet, We had hoped to do more at Epcot but we were definitely out of steam and knew we had another Epcot day. We went to bed with sore voices and sniffles but made it through another great day!

Day 5 Break Day
I was proud of us for making it all the way to break day. Last year we did it after 3 days too except we didn’t do a water park on arrival and the night before was the Halloween party so we got to sleep that morning. Anyway, everyone was a trooper so we slept in until…about 7:30ish. Wild times! But technically we were in bed at like 10:30 so it was a decent amount of hours. Emma and I still had questionable voices and congestion… wasn’t sure if it was a summer cold or the AC and it was manageable so just plowed through. We got ready kind of slowly then took the Skyliner over to HS and boated over to the Boardwalk to visit where we got married 12 years ago. We also planned to see one of my teacher besties and her daughter who also have the Disney itch. We knew our trips were overlapping so we thought it’d be fun to much breakfast on the boardwalk together. This was great and we walked around the resort a bit too. Then rather than boat back, they showed us the easy walking path to the Skyliner. It was easy to get back and we stopped and visited Caribbean beach a bit. Then we had another yummy lunch at Primo Piatto. I had the croque with tomato soup and it was yummy even though I could barely eat half of it. The sandwich is just quite heavy. We then headed back to Pop to dip in the pool, then got dressed to go out for a monorail run.

We took a bus to MK to hop on the monorail and rode the wrong one to the TTC. Oops! So we switched to the resort one and I looked out the window and daydreamed of living in Florida. I love looking at the resorts and area near MK. We got off at Poly, imagined staying there (the tropical flowers alone get me) and then grabbed dole whips to enjoy in the lobby. I told J we’re staying here next trip lol. Then we monorailed back to MK to grab a bus to AKL. I’d been there for Sanaa years ago but I forgot how stunning the lobby is—so I declared we’ll actually stay there next trip. We had time to meander, look at animals and lounge in the lobby, before our Boma reservation. Boma was busy and for good reason! We were seated fairly quickly and omg it was unreal. I actually ate the carved meat and I rarely eat red meat. But what was heaven for me was the hummus bar and salad. Sooo delish. The girls who had watched many paging Mr. Morrow videos with me (who they refer to as the silly guy) were excited to eat zebra domes and make heavenly faces. Joke was on Katie because she didn’t like them but Emma devoured like 4. I loved the vibes of the place and we had a nice table by a window kind of out of the way. It made for a relaxing experience. We’ll definitely come back. As we waited for the bus to return, J and I had the inevitable when will we buy DVC talk, which ends up nowhere, but someday!
Then we headed back to the park and played in the pool a bit. Great break day (18k steps instead of 26):rofl:

This same debate runs in my brain for Poly vs. AKL.

Which, to be honest, is loads better than having the problem of not being afraid and not being able to discern danger. Hugs, though, dealing with this. Getting therapy early is a good thing.

Wait! There is a yeti gift shop? I’ve never been over there because I don’t ride Everest.

It’s solid. There aren’t many gift shops with unique items and there are some cute ones in there.

Day 6 Full Epcot Day
The rest day did its magic and we were still doing good getting up. We headed to Epcot in time for early morning but knew we could take our time as we bought an early Guardians LL. Grabbed Joffreys as we strolled through international gateway to Future World. We were heading to Spaceship Earth and our slower pace ended up being magical as we saw Minnie and Mickey just walking across future world. I yelled to the fam to naturally run and catch them and we got to do pictures with both of them together with no one around—soo cool. Then we turned the corner and saw Mirabel and Bruno. I was kind of floored because I know they get huge lines at the Halloween Party. There was no one around them besides workers so they talked forever with my kids. Katie is still telling me to contact Disney to send Mirabel my chocolate lasagna recipe. These were great magical interactions!

Then we finally got to doing some rides. We went on Spaceship Earth and then headed to our Guardians reservation. We did Rider Swap and J and I got a song I didn’t even know —someday I will get September. After we headed to Test Track, which the girls were excited for—-until they weren’t. So I chicken exited with both, but it was an easy swap because they had me just walk back up the ramp after. For this one I could pretty much nail that it’s the sound of the cars that freaked them out, I liked the ride, but not sure where I rank it with other Test Track versions. I miss the music from the the second version. I was relieved that there would be no more unknown rides with the girls and we headed over to Moana and the Seas—some real favorites. Emma cried a bit because she didn’t get to ask Crush her question so we talked to his CM friend to learn more about turtles. After we went to do Soarin before lunch. While in the Soarin line we saw another family with an Assumption College student, it ended up being hysterical because Ingrid will be the girls head RA this year. Soarin was excellent and then we went to eat at Sunshine Seasons, which we hadn’t eaten at in years. J and my mom got Asian bowls, I got the caprese sandwich and some grapefruit beer. Sitting in the Land eating a delicious sandwich is chef’s kiss. I could happily work in that cafeteria. My lunch was delicious but I had stomach cramps later—so maybe it was more than my sensitive stomach bargained for. Then we went for a ride on Living with the Land and headed over to ride Figment. I’ve always kind of disliked the new Figment ride because when we went when Ingrid was little I was expecting the cool one with Dreamfinder, but this one has grown on me mostly because my kids love it. After a solid FW run, we were ready to head to World Showcase.

We started in Canada, grabbed a beer and headed to watch the film. After we wandered through the stores in the UK and headed to France. We rode Remy, which we all love then headed to the bakery. Everyone chose a treat and we did lots of sharing so it was delicious. We walked around Morocco a bit and started to walk to Am Adventure as we didn’t need to hit Japan again. Right around Japan the sky opened up and absolutely downpoured. Ingrid ran ahead. Mom, J, and the girls ducked under a kiosk but there wasn’t enough room so I surrendered and walked to Am adventure. It was like walking through Niagara. I tried to pop inside to listen to Voices of Liberty but it was too cold seeing as I was dripping from head to foot as if I just walked out of a lake. So I sat in the front of the building under the overhang hoping to warm up and maybe dry. Slowly everyone else showed up. I changed the girls with scouting efficiency outside the theater so that they weren’t freezing then we went to the show. Mom opted out as she was too cold and said she’d go buy a shirt but didn’t. I enjoyed Am Adv (always do), the kids semi-napped, and Ingrid declared that she stayed awake almost the whole time even though history is boring. After I brought mom to the restroom and helped her dry out her shirt in the driers. Semi-assembled again we realized we didn’t have much time before our dinner reservation so we’d have to do Norway after. I took a few minutes to bring the girls to the China kidscot spot and then we headed to San Angel. We were seated pretty quickly at San Angel and we had the same server we had last year. He even showed us pictures of his baby. We love this spot—the downfalls though are that it is slow service and the bathrooms aren’t big enough. But my chicken tacos were amazing and I love the atmosphere. After we rode 3 cabs and grabbed another tiki bird for our chandelier. One of the shops has hand carved birds on rings that we really like. Then we headed over to Frozen. Our plan was to do Norway and then go to Germany for our favorite beer and shops. Everything was going well and we got both girls on the boat without any trouble (this has been a problem ride before). We were with some very loud drunk people in the back row which started to annoy us, but we just rolled with it. Just as we got to the area where we were about to see Marshmallow, the boat stopped. We got the whole stay in the boat spiel but unlike other times the ride did not pick up. After about 20 minutes, we started befriending the back of the boat drunk family and making jokes. We’d call out for Elsa to help, sing row row your boat, call for any frozen characters help but we remained sitting with no communication. Another 20 mins went by and and someone finally came out to tell us that they would eventually unload us after they drained all the water from the ride. They asked if we could do stairs and then we sat for another 10 minutes while the water went down. The CMs came back and helped make sure we could all jump out of the boat and then we walked down an emergency exit to… the back of the building. We were in some type of alley/parking lot. They scanned our bands for a FP, we said goodbye to our new unorthodox boat friends and off we went to run to Germany before they closed the shops. We were bummed we didn’t get time in the Norway pavilion and the girls were sad they finally got on Frozen and didn’t get to finish it, but we told them it was an experience/funny memory. J got us a beer in time and then we stared at the cuckoo clocks before saying nah too expensive, which we do every trip. Then we headed to the Skyliner watching bits of the night show. We got to the Skyliner with the rest of the fireworks exiting crowd, but wildly there was no line, the park must have been pretty empty. We got back early enough for a quick dip in the pool and called it a night. Overall, great Epcot day.

One of my favorite light wraps came from that gift shop. It’s mostly red with a blue leopard print that fades into paisley, and it has gold tassels! Irresistible, I tell ya! I love that gift shop.

This is me, this is me, this is me every time I go to Epcot. But I have to go see the cuckoo clocks even if I can’t afford one. (YET.)
