I’m torn on magic shots - for myself, I don’t care for them, they’re kind of cheesy. But I have kids who are 3 and 5 and sometimes get grumpy about being in photos, but I told them that the Disney people have magic cameras that can see things that we can’t see, and then I ask for a magic shot, and a) they’re way more willing to put up with being in a photo and b) now they look at the photo of my older son holding Tink in his hand or my younger son sitting next to Pua and they believe that those guys were actually there, they just could only be seen on the magic camera, and the magic is even more real for them.

I once heard on a Disney podcast, pretty sure it was The Disney Dish with @len & Jim Hill, that WDW has special training for Photo Pass photographers on how to properly use all types of cell phone cameras because they will encounter different ones from all over the world.
They are more than willing to take pictures using your own camera after they have taken their own ones first.

I liken magic shots to the obligatory shots taken at the tower of Pisa where you position yourself to “hold it up.” No vacation is complete without such pictures IMO.
