How do you remember to time waits? or does it come easy to you?

I just wanted to scope out how it is for other people. We leave tomorrow (squee!!!) and i know my best intentions are to “time all the things!” but when it comes right down to it, between being in charge of where we’re going and when and the needs of three small humans, i just forget sometimes and don’t remember until half way through the wait.
So what does timing waits functionally look like for you?

side bar: can someone tell me, is it true that you can use your LLSP for two hours after the window?

Edit: nevermind, I found it. 119 min

Like anything, once you do it a few times, it becomes a habit. I usually only time standby lines I’m in and am less likely to time LL lines I’m in. I do sometimes forget to end the timer though.

I have so much trouble I gave up. I often can’t submit the wait because of signal strength with both Wifi and cell data. Half the time the signal won’t let me send it and the CM is like put your phone away. So I just don’t really do it anymore. Here and there but not consistently.

Yes, I agree–this makes it hard to consistently time and submit waits.

I try to do it whenever I remember to but, in all honesty, I’m probably much more reliable at the beginning of the week than the end.

I remember to most of the time. I feel so passionate about paying it forward. I also don’t have three small children.

Same, so much the same. Try not to feel guilty if you prioritize your kids and sanity over timing waits.

I haven’t tried using Lines on an Apple Watch - that would potentially make it much easier if it works?

I have never timed a wait. Not stubborn or anything, but it the furthest thing from my mind when I am in the parks. Maybe it I were on a solo trip or something.

Maybe I should try it for UOR though. I have never found the estimated wait times in the TP app to be nearly as accurate as the Disney TP app, and I find the wait times in the Universal app tend to be closer to actual than in TP. I presume this is partly because there aren’t nearly as many data points to go by?

I imagine that it’s something that’s easier for more experienced visitors to do than for people who visit less frequently. I know that when I’m in the parks, my mind is juggling a million things already. How are we doing with our touring plan? Do I need to book a new LL? Is there a second tap point we all have to touch before I can do that? Does someone need to reapply sunscreen? Should we start a mobile order? Where’s the nearest bathroom and can my child wait until after we’re done with this ride?

By the time my mind gets to timing the wait, it’s too late.

This will be our first trip with a child we’re still rushing to the bathroom as soon as she announces “I have to go potty!” Haha. I told DH we’ll be constantly evaluating whether or not we have to bail on a line to take her

I rarely time them anymore. It is completely off my radar 95% of the time. Such that when I time it, it’s with such intention that remembering is a function of itself.

Does that make sense?

Have fun out there!!!

This is my more likely type of trip to do any timing on. Good call out!

Have a fantastic trip!

I am most likely to submit wait times when I am in line at a less predictable time - rope drop, closing, or during fireworks, as I feel like those are the least accurate, so when they are most needed. Those are also times I am usually doing stand by.

Rope drop and the first hour in the park before I’m using an LL are the times I’m probably most likely to time. And also at the very end of the night. I’ve time Rise like that several times when I get in line right before the park closes.

I think my failure to track wait times, too, is that I don’t often use a touring plan anymore. Because I am so fortunate to visit so regularly, I generally have a few targeted experiences that I either have LL for or don’t mind waiting for. And I am otherwise moving through in a more leisurely fashion.

I realized my tagline could now be:

“came for the touring plans, stayed for the community”.

This is exactly my pattern. I don’t know why it is always when I think to time.

7DMT during fireworks is a personal mission of mine. I’ve never waited more than 25 mins then, but I have never seen a resource that says it is a good time to ride.

Agree. I make a plan in advance to see what I can accomplish in the time I want but don’t actually use it day of. I’m paying for the Forum and Chat and the advice and enjoyment I get from it and the fine people here.
