How Did You Handle TRON (especially senior citizens)

I did not ride Tron on my last visit to MK but thinking about it on our next trip in May. I’m 74 and was never a thrill ride enthusiast but did ride most of the WDW thrill rides in my younger days… Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, Test Track, etc. Did not care for Flight of Passage at all; caught me off guard as I expected it to be akin to Soarin’ (which I love.).

So… just curious about the experience of others with TRON.

  • 1 - No issues - Can’t wait to ride again
  • 2 - Made me a little sick/queasy - but would ride again
  • 3 - Made me a little sick/queasy - would not likely ride again
  • 4 - Made me REALLY sick/queasy - Forget About It
  • 5 - No issues but have no desire to ride again.

I was 68 when I rode it - twice! - with no problems. It is smooth, but short. It’s more like riding a motorcycle on very curvy roads. I like the wild rides and have never been bothered by them. DH doesn’t do wild rides. At the time, I used the VQ (and DH’s band for a second ride) near RD.

It’s no longer VQ, so it’s either standby or spend the money on LSPP.

In Dec, I chose to skip it and spend my time/money elsewhere since I was traveling solo with limited days. If I were with someone who really wanted to do it, then I would do it again.

There are seats (non-bike style) at the end of a train if you prefer that. Do try out the test seat if there are any concerns getting on it, and having the restraining bars fit over your calves.

I am not a senior citizen quite yet, but I find Tron really smooth. The only thing that may be difficult for some is the posture – it requires you to be bent over with legs strapped in. The back row with no bike might be better for some riders.

That said, my parents (who are both turning 70 this year) felt that Tron was at the upper edge of their tolerance.

I would put it more in line with Test Track than Space Mountain. Maybe Expedition Everest is comparable in intensity, but it’s much smoother.

I get motion sickness, but not on most coasters (except GotG). Tron is fine. But to me the bigger issue is that Tron is incredibly awkward to ride…but you can request the special car in the back with regular coaster seats. (Riding in the back is the best place to ride anyhow…I have been in front and back…back is way better.)

You make a really good point. Getting off and on the bike is awkward.

I am a senior citizen. I have gone on it a few times but I did not check any box. I will ride it again but I can’t say that “I can’t wait to ride again”.

This 100% … The lower portion of your legs get “Pinned” into place by mechanical rollers which several members of our party found very uncomfortable.

I don’t have issues as far as queezie but my hips are not in great shape as others have mentioned it’s more awkward to get on and off than FoP. I have not tried the standard seat. I honestly have no interest in doing the bike portion again.
…my 20 something’s also have issues with the leg restraints- my youngest came off with a pretty large bruise. He is a big guy 6”3 and his calves just don’t fit.

I agree with the others that it is very smooth. I didn’t really get sick on it, just a little dizzy. I do get sick on GotG. I continue to ride TRON because the family enjoys it, and any discomfort is temporary, but I cannot ride GotG.

The main thing about Tron is the takeoff is really fast. What gets me are big stomach-in-your-throat drops, and it doesn’t have those. Also, keep in mind that it’s only a minute long, so if you don’t like it, it will be over soon! (I’m not a senior though.)

I’m almost 67 and DH is almost 70. We’ve ridden it several times including last week with no issues and would definitely ride it again. I’m only 4’11" and it is sometimes a little awkward for me to get on and off the ride but it’s not anything that would stop me from riding it.

My parents rode it last year at 69 and 74, they enjoyed it and ride a couple of times. I haven’t visited since it opened so didn’t vote.

I had issues with getting on the bike. The cast were great and put me in the upright seats at the back. Still was a great ride!

DH is 77 and prone to motion sickness, but had no problem with Tron. He loved it! I was challenged to get clipped in, but made it and loved it! So much fun! Worth the trouble! Highly recommend practicing in the front area if you are nervous!

Things that make me queasy include Star Tours, MFSR, and (recently) FoP.

Space Mountain is too rough for me to enjoy, but I often forget that and ride anyway :woman_facepalming:t2:

TRON is not like any of the above. It’s fast and smooth as silk, and I would ride it over and over if I could. My mother rode when she was 69 and loved it; she enjoys fast things like jet skis and snowmobiles, and tends to like all theme park rides. My Aunt, her sister, rode when she was 70 and found it much too much to enjoy and wouldn’t ride again. She has a knee that doesn’t bend enough for her to ride the bike and so she sat in the back car sitting upright.

Like @LZurg said, though, given it’s not one with a high queasy rating it lasts but a minute so might be worth giving it a try. Especially since it sounds like something you might have ridden and enjoyed in the past!

Have fun!

We’ve officially chopped it from the list. I will ride if someone else in my party wants to. And then maybe even not then. I need the car to have a lever that you pull and the seat lifts me up. I almost fell last time getting out. DH caught my arm.

DH gets motion sickness on FoP, GotG, and STs. He does fine with Tron. They have a car you can ride instead of the bike. I would plan your first ride to be in that vehicle if you’re concerned about riding in motor bike fashion. Getting off is a bit awkward. I’m always afraid I’ll pull a muscle :grimacing:

I’m 75 and love!!! TRON! Rode everything (especially Everest) until the past year or so but my dang spine is giving out on me so I’ve had to give up a few things (unhappily). TRON is so smooth, no problems.

I’m not much of a coaster guy but it was so smooth that, despite being pretty stinking thrilling, was easily tolerable.
