Hotels / FL Resident Rate

Hey Everyone,

I’m thinking this is a no, but wanted to check. I have Florida Resident ID, my wife doesn’t. We are booking at Uni hotel with our kids, but they are arriving a few days before me, so will do two days in one hotel, before we all move to Portofino Bay together.

Since she doesn’t have FL ID so I’m assuming I can’t use a Florida Residents Rate for when she’s there on her own. Only when I’m there. Or is there a way I can email my ID in advance or something? Thanks!

I have read here in the Forum that Uni resorts rarely (if ever) check for proof of residency (or proof of AP status, for that matter) for those special rates. I am just planning my first trip, so can’t confirm personally - but am sure other Liners can chime in to confirm.

If I were you, I would put both of your names on both reservations and have her carry a copy of your ID when she checks in - then she has proof just in case someone does check.

I know they usually don’t check for the AP and the AP rate is the same as the FL resident. It has been suggested to book the AP rate and if they ask just say “oh, I was going to upgrade to an AP while here”. If fact, you can often upgrade to a seasonal or power pass (check Easter block out) for little or no extra money.

This has come up before and no one had ever reported back the results.

They don’t care about AP bookings and verifying those ever. It’s my personal experience and many others.

When you check-in they are going to ask for the ID off the person who made the reservation and the credit card used to secure the reservation.

I’m not a FL resident, but have tested the system “for fun.”

When I tried to book that way the system required poof of residence.

I’m going to '“assume” if you book with your ID, but aren’t there when the TM asks for the ID & credit card used to book it will be an issue.

Maybe the TM will see in the file all the names listed on the reservation (wife & kids) and understand (as long as the credit card matches).

I truly think you’ll be at the discretion of whomever greets you at check-in.

If you attempt to do it PLEASE let us know how it went so the next time this is asked we’ll have a better answer!! :blue_heart::yellow_heart::blue_heart::yellow_heart::blue_heart:
