HOLLYWOOD -- One Piece at Fan Fest

If you like the anime, you’ll like the show. I’m not as familiar with it and still enjoyed it.

It has stunts in it, but no where as many as the daytime Waterworld stunt show.

It’s more story driven. The crowds of fans loved it. I was told it takes place deep into the mythology.

Yes, I watched the video you posted. I really wanted your impression. How does the average person not familiar with the source ,material respond?

The WaterWorld show has been consistently popular in Hollywood and abroad, even though I’m certain with every passing year fewer and fewer guests have seen the movie. It’d a fun enough experience that you don’t need to know what it’s based on to enjoy it.

Since it’s Fan Fest, this One Piece show was crafted with a target audience in mind. I think if it does end up replacing WaterWorld in the future, they will probably go through a lot of revisions to give it a broader appeal. Luffy’s Gum-Gum abilities probably don’t make sense seeing them mimed out unless you know specifically what you’re watching.

Mini One Piece land around the Toon Lagoon theater and put the show in the theater. Boom.

Hey! I was, litterally in the park, at FanFest when I wrote my last response. Now, that I’m home here is what I’ll say…

I’ve never read or seen any One Piece books, shows or films. I did not know any of the characters names at the time of the show. (My daughter has since educated me!)

I really enjoyed it! There are some great effects. The guy who teleports in a cloud of smoke is incredible. (I know it is multiple performers, but it’s done so well!)

The acrobatics are fun and the pyro was great! One person does martial art kick fighting while his legs are on fire!

I could tell by the audience’s responses who the good / bad guys were along with the narration. That made it wasy to follow the story well enough.

I would definately watch it again!

My only critique is that there’s not a grand finale. They beat up all the bad guys and then slowly leave “before the place explodes.” (which it does - but everyone is gone.) Then, you are just sitting there watching random explosions. There is no WaterWorld “sea plane” finale that makes you go “WHOA!”

I genuinly like both shows, but FOR ME I perfer WaterWorld. It’s funnier, more action and the finale is insane to me.

A lot of the effects for the One Piece show ONLY work only at night. If they did WaterWorld in the daytime and One Piece at night that would be my dream!

I’m happy to go into more details, if I can think of any, but I think that answers your question!

If Ripsaw Falls and Bilge Rat Barges weren’t so good, I’d say scrap the century old comic strips entirely and replace them with manga

I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. I hope more people feel the same way.

Admiral Kizaru, probably the highest ranking officer in the Marines who isn’t a complete asshole. He ate Devil Fruit from the Glint-Glint Tree, and is a “Light Man” (also known as “Glimmer Man”). He can teleport at the speed of light through any reflective surface.

Sanji, he’s the ship’s cook who dreams of being a great chef with his own floating restaurant. Because he believes in cooking as an art form, he never fights with his hands as those are only used to create delicious meals. Instead, he only fights utilizing kicks.
