Hilton Ft Lauderdale Marina

I am sailing on the Disney Dream later this year and currently have a reservation the day before at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. I have not been to Fort Lauderdale before and Disney Cruise Line recommended this hotel. Has anyone stayed there? How safe is the area? How secure is the hotel? How is the staff at the hotel? Is the breakfast worth $30? Is the Disney Cruise line desk manned every day or just on embarkation day? How early do they pick up your luggage to take to the ship? Is it better to bring it down to the lobby? Do you recommend staying in the room until they pick it up? Is this a DCL cast member picking up the luggage or the hotel? Has anyone had an issue with your bags not being picked up in time? Is it better to bring your bags with you, have them put it under the bus, then check it at the port?

Any dining recommendations in that area? How far is the Disney character outlet from the marina?

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruise terminal which is just a short distance away. It was a very safe-feeling area, that was somewhat walkable, though the major roadway - Rt 3 - made some crossing challenging as there were limited crosswalks. But there was nothing about the area that left me uneasy in the least.

I can’t speak to the specifics about the hotel itself, but I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in that general area.

Haven’t stayed in Fort Lauderdale but have done the pick up to port from the Orlando Airport Hilton. For that one you leave your bags in your room and someone (I assume bell services) picks them up from there and takes them to the buses to be transported to the port. They have always gotten the bags after we left the room. Have not had a problem with bags making it to the ship for either of our cruises.

You had a bus take you from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale? Or are you just referencing you experience from this hotel to Port Canaveral?

I do not believe there is DCL transfer to Ft Lauderdale.

That would be just for Port Canaveral

From Orlando to Port Canaveral. I assume the process would be similar if you were taking Disney transportation from a Fort Lauderdale hotel to the port there.

There is a DCL transfer from either FLL Airport or from the Hilton Marina to Port Everglades, then a transfer from Port Everglades to FLL Airport. The DCL cast member did indicate they do not provide a separate shuttle to/from the Brightline train in Fort Lauderdale.
