The poster is hiding miniature Sorting Hats around the WWOHP for people to find. My first thought was I must have one of those immediately.
But this is the internet, so of course a huge argument erupted and people even message UOR Guest Services to weigh in. (They are opposed to the practice.)
What do you think? Innocent and delightful way to make someone’s day? Or a menace and a burden on park janitorial staff and security?
The idea is nice. However, IMHO it’s the social media aspect that makes it bothersome. Some people take it too far. People hunting for these start rummaging in areas they shouldn’t either in while making a mess or damaging property trying to find a trinket.
I’m more in favor of passing these out in person - like friendship bracelets. I’ve gotten a couple bracelets from people in the parks, both WDW and UOR, and love them
Serious question … why not buy one on eBay instead of wasting valuable park time looking for one?
Not serious question … why do so many people get worked up over stuff that they can choose to ignore and not participate in (and their choice with something like this won’t negatively impact themselves)???
Not the first time it’s been tried, and wouldn’t be the first time it’s gone awry.
There actually used to be like 7 hidden in wdw iirc. Someone was seen replacing one in the stave church and Disney promptly removed them (I believe they’re against geocaching guidelines anyway).
Seeing people looking for or hiding things in the parks makes people nervous for their safety.
This post was from October. I’m trying to find the original post where he said how rude security was and banned him? It has been a big thing here at Disneyland for years. Everyone seems to get in on the action. Mouse4life has an almost daily button drop from people to go find. Usually over on Tom Sawyer Island. Other clubs will bring their stuff and will either place in park or in a locker with the number.
Yeah… this is what I thought about when I saw the topic. I remember seeing him cry & etc in the posts back in October. I do think he was being a bit melodramatic, but the security CM could’ve handled it better
