Help me understand my HS Plan

Hi there, I’m trying to figure out why my TP for HS has such long waits for EE on the day of my visit. I’ll be there Wednesday, 5/21/25. My plan is a bit different because my kids aren’t interested in any of the popular rides except MMRW… two of us are interested in RotR but we aren’t starting there because we don’t want to split up first thing. Here’s my TP, but the second half is still unfinished.

I’m wondering why the plan shows such long waits for the first two rides, since I plan on at minimum being in the parks at early entry… hopefully before that, but I can never predict our mornings. I’ve seen lots of videos of people going to MMRW first thing (and sometimes 2nd) and still having a short wait. 26 minutes seems long, and I was not expecting that for my first two rides being MMRW and TSM. HS crowd calendar for that day showing a 6. I’m not interested in multipass because we’re skipping quite a few popular rides.

We did this in 2021 and 2023 and I used a TP and it looked very different than this. Am I missing something? TIA.

So, one major complaints about TP is that even if you put that you are arriving early, it assumes you are middle of the pack. A reasonable assumption most of the time, but it does mess up the times for those who REALLY are at the front of the line.

There is a plan to roll out a feature where you can specify you will be at the front of the line, but I don’t think it is out yet.

In the meantime, what is happening is that because it assumes the middle of the pack, going to MMRR first thing will be a longer wait…long enough that by the time you get off, it now has you arriving AFTER the gates open to everyone for TSM. This puts that wait long.

So, the general advice is to, instead of placing your first ride of the day as (in this case) MMRR, insert, instead, a break first thing that includes what you EXPECT to be the wait time for real (plus the ride time). Then, when you add more rides after that, it should pick up from that point. Add a Note to the break indicating that it is for MMRR so you remember that is part of the plan.

If you put, say, a break indicating MMRR, and the break is for 20 minutes, then it should get you to TSM ahead of 9 am.

It’s likely because of that 2 minute delay in getting to the ride because the program doesn’t (yet! But we hear it’s coming) recognize that you’ll be rope dropping and already at the attraction at that time. This puts your wait to longer than it should actually be, and then that cycles into your next ride too

You’re just a lot more concise about it.

I like to write novels, I guess.

I did leave off the part about making the first ride just a break/placeholder

@ryan1 @OBNurseNH Thank you both for the explanation! I knew someone here must know why my EE plan looks so weird. This makes the most sense… I’ll try the placeholder suggestion on my plans and hopefully that will help me plan my mornings at the parks better!

Let us know the result!

So I am happy with doing a placeholder for my first ride - MMRR - even though it doesn’t change the wait time for my 2nd ride (TSM). I have the worst luck with this ride, I thought for sure there was no way the wait could be so long if I got there before 9am, but it’s still showing 32 min wait whether I manage to get there at 845am or really anytime before EE ends. When I look at the historical waits, TSM seems inconsistently high or low around those times so I don’t know if it’s just a matter of luck. I guess I’ll cross my fingers that the actual wait won’t be that long, but if it is I don’t think it will change my plans too much.
