I’ve got a solo trip 9/7 thru 9/12. I’ve never done MNSSHP but am considering it. I don’t care too much about the actual Halloween stuff; I’m more interested in the rides. I’m guessing the ride lines are shorter as people are interested in the characters, parades and candy. I’m most interested in SM and Tron. Can someone who has been in the past speak to how short the lines are, particularly for those two rides?
HI!
I went solo last year! I was there for the rides as well. If only doing rides is your goal you can do almost the entire park with minimal waits.
You’ll be able to enter the park at 4pm, so you can start knocking out rides before the party even starts.
Last year Tron was BGs only. The spots went instantly. They were released at 6pm. I used the BG1 app to get a spot. They BGs were all gone within a minute!
Space Mountain was a habitual 30 minute wait…
The rides that had 30 - 40 minute waits all night (the longest) were Haunted Mansion, 7DMT and Space Mt.
I arrived before 3pm to be at the front of the RD crowd.
I did watch the all the MNSSHP shows, met Jack & Sally (first person in queue!) and a couple other characters. Even doing these “side quests” I still managed to do Country Bears (before party) and then all of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland Haunted Mansion (3 times) and Pirates during the party. I chose not to do BTMRR, Jungle Cruise and Splash was under construction for TBA conversion.
I found food lines to be very long and annoying. Once I started using mobile order it got better. I wound up just eating way too much free candy & gave myself a stomach ache. I stayed until well after 1am and left the parks in my Uber after 2am.
It was a blast!
Here’s my Trip Report. I’ve bookmarked where I arrived for the party
This year, Tron will be standby for the party, and no VQ or LLSP (unless you have a regular daytime ticket and can ride during the crossover time). So we don’t really have anything to compare against for standby during a party, other than maybe some of the after hour events which I’ve read have used standby. I think from what I’ve read, the standby was fairly quick for those who rode when the standby line first opened up so that’s what I will be aiming for when I do MNSSHP on 8/16.
With it being standby, I’d wager it will be very popular! The popular rides were always around a 30 - 40 minute wait.
I actually rode it twice by buying a Lighting Lane during the time before the party started and then once during the party.
So you can shop in the Emporium after the party officially ends at 12?
So it’s just the rides and restaurants that close?
Like they won’t kick you out?
Yes! After the party they’ll let you stay on Main Street in the stores for long time. I recommend doing your shopping then to avoid carrying anything.
When I left, after 1am, the stores were still open!
I’m like you, but I really enjoyed the parade. And I’m not a parade person.
Perfect. That’s so good to know.
I hate that the ride waits will even be that long.
I’m going for the parade and fireworks and basically to check it off DD20’s bucket list.
How long did you queue for Jack @darkmite2 ? Stuff I read sounds like 2+ hours?
I was literally the very first person that night. I rushed right there! I was so proud. The guy who arrived second looked so disappointed!
Sept 8 doesn’t appear to be a busy one and there are tickets available, so I may wait to see how the first ones go and the early reports of waits for Tron and TBA in particular since they aren’t using VQs for those two.
This can be very deceiving. All the parties sold out the last two years, so they should have been equally busy. The only “less busy” for rides would be the first party or two when all the bloggers/vloggers are there to focus on the special things, not the rides (unless it has an overlay).
Oh! I’m going to the second party. Maybe my lines will be a wee bit shorter.
I just want Tron, 7DMT & PP
You can actually enter the park at 4:00.
Completely agree with this!
The rides woth the overlays and extra characters have longer lines but arent to be missed.
The actors at HM are the best, my favorite part of MNSSHP and this year the live actors are back at POC. Space will have the 100% darkness with spooky music so that increases the line.
Which makes my “enter the park at 5pm” still accurate!
Seriously though…Thanks! I was going from memory. My TR even says 4pm…duh!
I was in line at MK around 3:20 and was inside by 3:50.
Awesome!
That was my experience too. If you genuinely want to be first at the taps you have to arrive before 3pm…closer to 2:45pm
