Well, it’s on…but…what’s up with the forums as of late? I’ve been noticing quite frequently, but off and on, that the forums go into slow-motion-mode. Right now, as I type this, is one of them. It takes ages for the site to load, for a page to load, for a post to post.
And then…just like that, it will be back to normal. I would say it was just me, but it is ONLY this site that I’m noticing this slow-down for, and I’ve been noticing it both on my laptop, and my phone…and even when my phone is connected to my home internet OR connected to 5G.

I think so. Just now I tried to highlight part of @Jeff_AZ 's post to quote it and it wouldn’t highlight.
After refreshing the page, highlight and quoting worked fine.
Even before this recent update I’ve been wondering more and more if this Discourse simply hasn’t the bandwidth to handle some of the threads. Uncensored at certain times has consistently been glitchy.
I may be wrong but I actually think Discourse is a software / platform and it has to be hosted. I’m sure Discourse offers hosting but it might not be the cheapest option. I have a group of friends that have a forum together and we each chip in each year to pay for our hosting space. Recently one friend got a server in his home and now hosts the forum.
I believe what he said is he has no control over the software — it is updated by the powers that be. It may well be hosted at Discourse as well. But I think he can make decisions about where to host the site and how much bandwidth to purchase.
Since the last update, I’ve been using a VPN when I visit the Forum - otherwise the images don’t load. I had discussed this with Len when it first started happening, and learned that TP had to turn off this functionality for all except a handful of user countries (besides the US and Canada, I believe this primarily includes European countries like the UK, France, Germany, etc.) as otherwise the site experiences a high volume of costly bot activity!
Between the VPN and whatever this new delay is, pages take forever to load - or sometimes don’t load at all.
I’m sad to say I’d already reduced my number of visits to the site these past couple of days (and even more sad to say this may also be because I don’t currently have a trip planned that would give me more reason to be on the site).
OH… I HATE this new look, update, change! Hate it I say! and the drop down choices are NOT adequate either b/c I don’t want to delete everything just what I want not to push
I’ve always used my older android phone to access the forum. On mobile. Up until a year ago, on a very slow internet connection.
So far I’ve experienced little annoyance with the update.
I do wonder at Discourse’s process of deciding what to improve. I figure it was user requests or possibly staff brainstorming, from a certain point of view. Or both.
