Here is a link to the location in Dallas. Has anyone done this? I suspect it might be a disappointment after recently being at Universal Orlando.
We attended this in Philadelphia in 2022. While not on par with the theme park it was a must for any HP fan. Our whole family enjoyed it.
We did the Dallas one in December. I very much enjoyed it, would have enjoyed it more without my kids rushing me through! It’s more like a museum with lots of interesting things to see and plaques to read.
I was kinda hoping that you guys would say, “Don’t bother. You will be disappointed.” LOL
One thing interesting after our recent Universal Orlando Epic Epic trip, I left thinking, “I need to reread (or relisten) to the Harry Potter books. I need more Harry Potter in my life.” I’d forgotten so much. Then I saw that Audible is releasing Full-Cast versions of the audiobooks. Hugh Laurie is one of three actors that I want to see/hear what they do just because they are in it, and he is Dumbledore. I bought the full set. I keep getting sucked back into Audible.
After we got home I realized that our Disney World trip did not make me want to revisit anything Star Wars, and I like Star Wars, even the Disney ones.
They are very well done! Although Snape doesn’t sound like Snape to me. I’m getting used to it… I’m on the first book now.
I thought for sure that Hugh Laurie would be doing Snape. His snide voice is just so Snape. I console myself with the idea that he probably wanted Dumbledore as a bigger part.
I agree with you that Snape is disappointing. I’m in Goblet of Fire now. It is also jarring when the actors change from one book to the next.
Oh no! Thanks for the warning.
The voices of the characters will forever sound like voices of Jim Dale, to me. He was incredible.
I didn’t get into Harry Potter until after the first or second movie had been in the theaters. Thought it was cool, and then read the books that were out. Because the movie was my first experience, it was the movie actor’s voices that were in my head. Dale is awesome though.
It was the 7th book that convinced me that I needed an e-reader. Remember how hard the books were to get when they first came out? Plus, I’m cheap err frugal, so I checked out the ebook from the library and finished it in a day and a half sitting in my computer chair using my desktop. My butt literally hurt.
I normally never reread books. With HP, I read the books, watched the movies, listened to the audiobooks with DD, watched the movies with DD. So it is amazing that after the Epic visit I thought I needed to redo HP. Except for HP, Dune and the Dark Tower series, the only time I revisit is when another books comes out.
I preordered and had it on the day it was released. So…um…no? ![]()
Few books…but I read the Harry Potter Books, listened to the audio books at least twice, and of course watched the movies countless times.
For Epic, it is more important to have seen the first Fantastic Beasts movie, which my son had not seen. After this trip, he said he will do so.
We visited the HP store & exhibition in NYC. It was pretty neat. Photos in this post if interested.
This caught my attention in Phila:
