Guys Iger is KILLING it - more updates from today 1/10/23

Like I said, I’m less upset about leaving out things. However, the addition of stupid things and the changes they made to the characters were egregious to me.

But it’s okay to feel differently than me.

As I said, I agree with you about Faramir. Not so much for the other cases, though. The books have very few comedic moments. It is quite heavy. So, Merry and Pippin’s change in the films brought more a comedic element towards the start, but then also highlighted even more how they changed and matured as the story progressed.

And, Arwen’s expansion in the movie (effectively replacing Glorfindel) really was a positive change, in my view. It gave her a stronger female presence that would have been lacking, with the exception of Aowyn. Sad to see Glorfindel gone? Sure…but I felt, overall, it better served the story.

But…I don’t feel that way…

Come on Josh… :smirk:

if this is all because you’re such a nice guy who loves guests, why didn’t it happen during the 3 years the other Bob was your boss?

I take it to mean Iger wasn’t driving the change. But I do think the change in leadership definitely played a role in that what D’Amaro had wanted to do before, Chapek said no to, and Iger didn’t!

Still…his word choice is…curious.

Chapek stripped all department heads, including Josh, of their ability to do or say anything. All of it went through that other guy - his right hand man guy who’s name I’ve forgotten.

Im reading this part:

Mr. D’Amaro said. “I have a lot of face-to-face conversations with guests when I’m walking the parks, and I read a lot of their comments online.

Thinking: what if he found us and read our comments?

yea the word choice is what bugs me. It can be him and his team choosing what changes to make, but I doubt it’s a coincidence it happened under Iger’s watch

I believe he was under Chapek’s thumb.

I believe Iger has empowered him to take action to improve the guest experience.

The rest of this comment kind of annoys me. He talks about the fans complaining when they move a tree, but that he still had to really listen to them and take action when needed. But it comes off a
In a real backhand compliment kind of way. Hiw about just saying, we listened to the comments and figured out where we could take action. Something about his tone makes me not like him in this essay.

Can he put the fake Tower of Terrors back on the highways now ?!

We always yell and point at them on the buses (our little family joke)
Josh if you’re reading this, do it! Do it now!!!

The free parking is the big one for me. You already paid for the room, everything at the hotel should be included.

Not familiar with Bruce Vaughn but this looks like a great development.

Thank you for posting this. I did see this come across my feed last night and wanted to look more into who this person is

It sounds like he left the company and is happy to be back? But I will read the articles. It sounds like it’s probably a good thing, though, as it’s addressing some imagineering deficits we’ve been suffering for a bit now

Yes indeed it sounds like a great move!

I do like the idea of balance with Barbara Bouza there, provided she doesn’t (continue to?) squash the creativity with too much business-mindedness. Yin/yang here could be the ideal.

Now do Joe Rohde… :crossed_fingers:t3:

You think he’d want to return?
