Thinking about pre-ordering groceries for our trip coming in just under three weeks. Never done this before so trying to think about what we might need.
Based on what I’ve read in the forums, here is some of the common things I think people look for
Toilet paper
Sunscreen
Bottled water
Protein bars
Oatmeal
Fruit, particularly the kind that doesn’t need to be refrigerated like oranges or apples
Muffins or other pastry for breakfast
What else am I missing? What other grocery essentials do you consider worth having delivered to your resort?
I order 24 packs of 8 oz water, grapes, cheese sticks, uncrustables, sometimes pringles, peanut butter crackers. I only order what we would need for a quick breakfast or a a snack for when we return at night.
We order bottled water, Mountain Dew for DS (it’s a different recipe in the U.K. when we can even get it), pop tasters/cereal bars for quick breakfasts, snacks that we can’t get in the U.K. Honestly we didn’t eat most of the snacks last time, I over ordered.
I order anything that I don’t want to deal with on my trip, like cheese sticks, olives, heavy cream, and salad makings. However, since we are driving, that makes ordering non-refrigerated food not needed. If it weren’t, it would be water, Zevia soda, pork rinds, etc.
Bananas. Great to grab on the way out the door for a breakfast on the way to the parks.
Here’s a more unusual one. When we are in a room at BLT with a freezer and oven, we get a few frozen pizzas for late night snacks after a long park day. I wish WDW would go back to having room service pizza delivery at the deluxe resorts.
We got bottled water, a couple gallon jugs of water to fill our water bottles, salty snacks for at night, and a box of bars that could pass for an emergency breakfast. I had to place a 2nd order mid-trip for sunscreen and more water, but the snacks lasted the whole time. If you eat mostly at the parks I wouldn’t order too much food ahead. And I knew from previous trips that we’ve be eating so many sweet treats that we wouldn’t want anything sweet (even fruit) in the room.
Unless you are going to wait at your resort for the delivery, I wouldn’t order anything that requires refrigeration. Odds of it being properly handled along the way are iffy
Gallons of water since we always have a reusable bottle. We drink when we are in the room and give the water bottle a first fill for the day every day. We refill with ice and water at the parks.
Sparkling water.
Granola bars or cereal for breakfast.
Apples, cuties, and bananas.
I buy milk at the resort store. Prices are reasonable.
In addition to some of the above already mentioned items, I like to get some greek yogurts and some pre-made hard boiled eggs for quick breakfasts or snacks.
If it’s summer/hot I like to order a variety pack of fruit juices. They seem to refresh and rejuvenate better. I ordered a variety of Naked juices in June 22 when we had 4 people. Each of us had a different fav flavor so it worked out well.
We also do frozen pizzas! If we are doing a suite with an oven, we’ll get a frozen lasagna too (but they take forever to make). It’s nice to have a few meals in the room.
We’ve tried frozen burgers in the past, but the room gets very smoky and it makes me nervous that we’ll set off fire alarms, so they are no longer on our list
We usually stay in a villa because we like eating breakfast in the room and having a washer and dryer. We usually order:
Some (liquid) laundry products
Vinegar (to clean the coffeemaker)
Breakfast Foods (Toast, Bagels, Cereal)
Fruit
Milk / Creamer
Yogurt
Some snacks (Cheez-its, protein bars) for the parks
Bottled water for the parks
Gallons of bottled water for making coffee and tea
Other than breakfast, we rarely eat in the room. Never had a problem with proper storage of refrigerated/frozen items. We usually order for a delivery time that is slightly before our arrival so that we can take everything to the room when we arrive. We used to use Garden Grocer but found that Instacart had a better selection. The shoppers always text me when they can’t find an item and need a decision on a replacement. I schedule the delivery time early enough so that they are not trying to text me while I am in flight.
We most often stay in a villa, and like to eat breakfast and some lunches in the room, so we order fresh fruit (berries, bananas, and apples), raw veggies and hummus, yogurt, bread, peanut butter, jam, cereal, milk, gallons of water, orange juice and french vanilla coffee creamer.
