It’s come to my attention that I do not know the best places in the parks to sit a spell and relax. I know several in WDW. But I can’t visualize where in Universal Parks would be comfortable and relaxing. I’m not too worried about Epic. I’m more looking for places in IoA and USF.
We like benches with a view, street entertainment, nice music or something to look at. We would spend 5-10 minutes just taking a break. Give me all your favorite spots!
Hey!
At USF you can sit in the park across from Mummy / Fallon. I also like the benches along the water near the Knight Bus. There’s also tables and chairs next the Starbucks over in the San Fransico area.
At IOA there are tables outside the Backwater Bar that are shaded. You don’t need to make a purchase to sit. When I need a quiet break I go to the alcove by the restrooms near the Cat in the Hat. There’s nothing to see, but it can be a spot to get away from the sounds.
There’s another alcove near Mythos to look over the water, but no seating.
There’s tables and shade near Thunder Falls terrace. When JPRA is operating you can watch the boats splash down.
I also like to sit in the shaded area near Wimpy’s / lockers for Popeye.
I won’t be. And I don’t think it was open my last trip a decade ish ago either. ![]()
All of this is great! I was hoping you chimed in! Thank you so much. Adding these spots to my notes ![]()
My personal favorite is in SeussLand. On the lake-side of Seuss is an Icee stand selling Moose Juice (icee). On the right side of that building is bathrooms and past that is some lake viewing places and a round bench. There are other places around the lake, but I love the sneetches and the lake and icees and proximity to a bathroom and the Seuss Music.
Same place DarkMite mentioned as near Cat In the Hat.
The terrace behind the HogsHead/Three Broomsticks is nice and you can watch the people at the top of hat of Velocicoaster.
Of that’s sounds like a good spot too. My plan has us killing some time right there. I may want to check out the shops much more than DH. I’ve never been on VC either so it will be fun to watch.
I was looking at this spot on the maps. I wondered if they had any seating there.
I think it is designed more for people waiting for family to come out of the bathroom but there is a round bench.
We use the seating near the Rapunzel bathrooms in MK as a resting place. I’m known to take a bathroom break at a 3:1 ratio with DH. So a close bathroom is a plus.
I couldn’t remember off the top of my head so I went to check photos from our most recent trip bc we ate a brunch of tots from Green Eggs and Ham and the kids had to go potty at least once while we ate so we walked from behind the Green Eggs & Ham to those bathrooms. This is closer ish to Green Eggs & Ham than the Moose goose and bathrooms but it’s that general area. Doesn’t look like there are seats and tables, but those planters in the background on the right might be a decent bench seat to sit at and take in the lagoon views.
Thanks! That’s a great visual of the space
I like hanging out in Diagon Alley by the butterbeer counter (The Hopping Pot). There is a stage nearby where there is often entertainment. Most of this area is covered but even the part that is open air is usually shaded. There is a fair amount of seating or places to sit on the ground / steps.
Thanks! I did see entertainment there. Glad there is seating. Going to add a break there

That isn’t quite it. Closer to the Moose Juice location and the lake is a bench.
My favorite hideaway at the whole resort is the waterfront trails behind Me Ship the Olive in IOA. There is hardly anyone there because it is so hidden. Lots of seating on the boxes and rocks and what not. The trails go right down to the water and in front of VC, where you can get a great view of the Mosasaurus Roll. Look for the signs that say “Lagoon View”.
Looks like this and then the trails drop down along the water:

I haven’t heard of these. So cool.
That would be a perfect spot to sit and dry off. I’ll definitely have to look at this. Thank you!!
Same! I love this area for relaxing and getting away from the crowds for a bit!
We’ve taken some very lovely sunset pictures from the Me Ship plus you can watch the people get soaked on the barges which is super fun.
I used to have a blast shooting people with the free water cannons on one of the levels of the ship. Got a few dirty looks and the finger a couple of times.
have a blast shooting people with the free water cannons
Is this still a thing??!! If there are cannons, they are meant to shoot people with and I can happily ignore eyes and fingers!
I’m all in!
I’m not sure. The blasting was pre covid. After they were always blocked off. They may have opened in the (two) years since I’ve been.
