Gift cards at Cinderella’s royal table

So I’ve looked online and I keep finding conflicting information on this.

I’m aware Cinderella’s royal table requires prepayment but can I either

  1. Book with a Disney gift card
    Or
  2. book online with my debit card then get on the phone and change my payment to a gift card.

I’m not sure about the gift card, but I was charged the full amount immediately upon reservation.
