Technical question here: is there a way to force a custom touring plan to adhere to specific times for Fantasmic and World of Color? We have a Fantasmic dining package that gives us the second show (not the first show), and the next night, a World of Color dessert party for the second (again, not the first) show. But the plan doesn’t seem to give us an option to choose which show we are actually seeing (and whenever I optimize, it defers to the first show in both cases). Is there a way to force this?
Add a break at the showtime. The algorithm will work around that.
Great – I’ll try that!
@Len OP may have identified a limitation. Example is June 5 2025 where HS closes at 10:00P and has scheduled a second Fantasmic showing at 10:30 P (which is the typical 30 minutes after close). Even though the scheduler offers a choice of the 9:00P or 10:30P show times, it appears to not honor the 10:30P show time because it falls outside of park operating hours. See Custom Touring Plan: Try1
That may still be an issue, I don’t know. But OP is posting about Fantasmic in DLR. So HS operating hours shouldn’t be in play for their Touring plan.
On the step with the plan you should see a list of all avaiable showtimes for that day & you should be able to click the time of the show you’d like to select as your preferred time.
Barring that, forcing a break will definitely work. When I do that, I actually make it a meal and pick the closest food cart or restaurant to where I want to watch the show ideally. That way the plan/optimizer can accurately calculate the location I want to be in at that time & plan accordingly around that.
Huh. Perhaps I am doing something wrong but I do not see any way to select a showtime from the plan step. All I get is the option to edit a note. Two showtimes are listed on the plan step but I can’t select either of them. This is the same in the app and on the web. Suggestions?
Email webmaster@touringplans.com explaining your issue and they can look into it & make any fixes necessary.
Thanks for pointing this out @Onyxdr. And thanks for the heads-up @linsalt!
We don’t handle “fireworks after the park closes” right now. It’s going to require a code change either in the optimizer or the process that sends it the data.
For now, @Onyxdr, I’d just leave that step off the plan and add a note saying “See this show after park closing.” It’s not great, but it keeps you from having to ignore the suggestion to see the earlier show.
Will do. Thanks!
Note the lack of anything clickable. And this particular issue can’t be related to the park closing time, because that evening the park closes at midnight. Thoughts?
I would try removing the step and then add it back. It should look like this:
From here you should see the hyperlink on each time.
I’ve found that once I’ve optimized/evaluated a plan that ability disappears to be able to select/clear a preferred time.
Just highlighting that the issue related to the show after parks closing is only relevent for HS and I am fairly sure that OP is asking about DLR. In which case F! does not happen after park close.
Usually, when you first create the plan, you can click on either of the two times listed - 9:00 and 10:30 - to select the one you want. Then it looks like this:
However, I picked the 10:30 show, and it’s still giving me the time to show up as if I had picked the 9:00 show. And that’s for a date when the park closes at 12:00! It turns out I did not have enough going on in my plan to fill the time up and force using the later show. When I added more things or changed plan starting time, then it made use of that later time and it looked like this:
